how would you like this neighbor

As long as she returned my tools after she borrowed them, didnt let her dog shit in my yard (or at least pick it up) and isn’t over the top noisy I wouldn’t care.

That house looks awesome. My kids would surely get a kick out of it every time we drove past.

"I painted my house to match my flag. "

I have a little more sympathy for her if this is a Gay thing though I can see why neighbors might be upset. That is not a good look for a big house.

City wide code and it applies to all exterior paint.

Violation of building design code sec. 35-5501(4)(a). Building colors should be complementary with other buildings on the block and sec. 35-5501(b) primary colors are prohibited for use as a wall color for all building facades in the R-2 district. Primary colors in off-white pastel shades are permitted.

I empathize with the lady, but what codes do you let slide and which ones do you enforce? I’d be in favor of the council amending the code, but the compliance office is in a tough spot here.

Given how many neighborhoods are built based on 2 or 3 building plans and are painted in 2 or 3 different colors anymore, I like that it's different. Too bad they couldn't have told her before she finished.

On the one hand, it would make it easy to use as a landmark. On the other, I would imagine that will make it hard to sell down the road.

I don't live near her, so I really don't care.

However, if this idea came to my mind I'd probably be checking with the city first to make sure it's allowed before I began buying paint.

But that's me.

Yep

Really no different than HOA bylaws people never read. Then bitching about the people who are required to enforce them.

The Romans had a saying: Concerning
taste there is no dispute.

This means that everyone is entitled
to their own opinion on what is tasteful
in architecture, clothing, chariots, and
food.

Bottom Line: Know the city code before
you paint your house in outlandish style
.
Agree 100% with your bottom line.

My HOA started sending out violations again last week and a bunch of the hood is pissed. One of the lawyers a few doors down took pictures of all the violations in the common areas and sent them in with a letter from the residents that we won't be taking any action until the HOA cleans up their own violations. It seems to have worked.
The thing is YOU and your neighbors OWN the common areas. Why have all of you ignored the condition of that area all this time?

But there might not be gold at the end of the rainbow for Berg. The city sent her a violation notice July 7, giving her until July 21 to repaint her house a color similar to other houses on the block or possibly face a fine of up to $750 a day until it's repainted.
.

this is the stuff that makes me laugh when people ramble on about how wearing a mask is eroding our freedoms.

We have people with such fućked up priorities in this country.

I hope whoever made the original complaint fries a frozen turkey of unexpectedly large displacement on a wooden deck at their own home on a windy day, in flip flops.

And I hope somebody burns her house down.

My ole man always pointed to the bright painted houses and said that the “drunk” lived there... it made finding the house easy after hours.
Personally, I love the effort she put in to spruce her place up.
