How's Keegan Doing?

What follows is from an ESPN story this afternoon on where things stand in the in-season tournament. The winners of the 6 groups (3 East, 3 West) advance along with 2 wild cards (1 East, 1 West).

The group the Kings are in:

West Group C

The Kings, Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves all have a chance to finish as group winners.

Sacramento wins if:

  • it beats Golden State
  • it loses to Golden State by less than 12 points AND the combined margin of Sacramento's loss and Minnesota's win over the Oklahoma City Thunder is less than 33 points.
For example: Golden State beats Sacramento 100-89 and Minnesota beats Oklahoma City 100-79. In that scenario, Sacramento would have a point differential of plus-18, Golden State would be plus-16 and Minnesota would be plus-18, and Sacramento would advance due to beating Minnesota head-to-head.

Golden State wins the group if:

  • it beats Sacramento AND Minnesota loses to Oklahoma City
  • it beats Sacramento by at least 12 points AND Minnesota's margin of victory is no more than 7 points bigger than Golden State's.
For example: Golden State beats Sacramento 100-88 and Minnesota beats Oklahoma City 100-81. In that scenario, Golden State and Sacramento would be tied at plus-17, and Minnesota would be plus-16, and Golden State would advance by winning the head-to-head matchup with Sacramento.

Minnesota wins the group if:

  • Minnesota wins AND Golden State beats Sacramento AND Minnesota beats Oklahoma City by at least 9 points more than Golden State wins by AND the combined margin of Sacramento's loss and Minnesota's win is 33 or more.
For example: Golden State beats Sacramento 100-90, and Minnesota beats Oklahoma City 100-77. In that scenario, Minnesota would finish plus-20, Sacramento plus-19 and Golden State plus-15, and the Timberwolves would win the group.

West wild card

The Phoenix Suns are virtually assured of being the wild card team in the West.

I'm glad I was wrong about the Kings losing. Didn't think they could get it done after being behind as many points as they were. What a comeback. Super happy for Coach Brown, the Kings, and especially Malik!

The Kings kept missing FTs; I thought that was going to cost them the game. They were just 27-42 from the charity stripe.

Well, they may have finally gotten GS out of their heads tonight.

I have to pay attention to what is regular season and what is in-season tournament

so, when the final 8 teams play and then the final 4 and then the championship game, are the other teams in the league playing?

It seems like one of those weird soccer playoffs instead of a hoops tourney.

Amazing meltdown by dramon and co last nite.
In short order Greene got a tech, then a dumb shooting foul 45 ft from goal, then misses a three and turns it over up 1 with 22 seconds left.
Fox missed 8 fts ...yikes. They survived thanks to monks clutch three and then improbable winning bucket. Guy is a straight baller!

72-50 Clips leading the Keegan-less Kings. After yesterday's game, it will be extraordinarily difficult to come back for a W. Kings will get a couple of days off until they welcome the Nuggets to Golden 1. Hopefully, Keegan will play then.

AS a hawks fan and long time kings fan... it is so damn frustrating to watch little defense be played on both teams... live and die by the three. I turned the warriors game off at half. Need to save my patience for Saturday night. I was pleased to see that they came back.

Good to see Keegan back in action yesterday as the Kings took down the Nuggets 123-117. Keegan had 8 pts, 5 rebs, and an assist. Kings take on the Pelicans tomorrow night at home @ 9PM on TNT. It's another In-Season Tourney game. The winner(s) move on to semis in Vegas.

As I have said, this is a really lousy matchup for Sac, especially that CJ McCollum is back with a healthy Zion and the King killer, Ingram. Flush it and move on to the next game. Keegan getting his shot back. Nice. :)
