Well, the Kings are in New Orleans for a back-to-back with the Pelicans starting tonight @ 7 PM on League Pass if you have it. Mine's good until the 17th or so I think. Allen Stiles from Sactown Sports 1140 AM mentioned yesterday that he can see Keegan coming off the bench in the future.

It's a shame that Keegan's lack of consistent scoring, in spite of his much improved defense and rebounding, has produced a dilemma involving talk of him coming in off the bench. Could being in the second unit help him, Franny?

Talk about a letdown. Everyone played "Hot Potato" with the ball trying to find DeMar for ISO. Poor strategy considering that LeVine was the one who was on.

Keegan’s main assignment is to lock down opposing teams’ best offensive players. They have guys that can score and are proven offensive commodities. The vets appreciate his work on defense. I still believe he can be a good shooter in the league but right now it’s not high priority for the Kings.

I agree with you on this, but too much of a good thing is not always good. No negativity on you sir, but on the coaching staff for overutilizing Keegan on defense. During the Pelicans game, Doug Christie should have utilized Keon Ellis more when guarding the King-Killer CJ McCollum. Keegan got cooked late trying to guard him. I'm aware that CJ was on the other night and no one on planet earth could stop him, but Keon played 13 fewer minutes and could have been in there late when the Pels made their last push. As for his shooting woes, I believe he will get back on track. When? I have no idea.

Losing by 24 AT HOME to a mid-Warriors team is no bueno 😖

The Kings (28-28) are currently sitting as the #10 seed in the West. If the playoffs started today, they would have to win 2 straight games in the Play-in Tournament just to get the #8 seed in the NBA playoffs (they would then face #1 seed Oklahoma City, which has a 45-10 record).

Here's part of a line from the movie "Everest": "...it's over, mate!..."

Here's the most recent take from Matt. Doesn't sound very good. He said Monk and Keegan are the only good trade pieces the Kings have, should they continue to try to build around Sabonis and LaVine.

it's still amazing to me how quickly the Kings have fallen apart
I hear you. I cancelled LP about a week ago, and I've had it (off and on) since Keegan was drafted. Monte has sculpted a team of scorers in hopes that the scoring production will increase. However, as a team, they can not seem to play together well. Without a true PG who can distribute the ball at a high level to help create opportunities for these scorers, the ball gets stuck and evolves into ISO. Monk and Ellis are not true PG's. They've been tasked with the position at Sac. They're more like shooting guards. I don't think Fultz is a top notch PG, but nonetheless, he is a true PG. Hope it helps down the road. As far as Keegan goes, you and I both know that no player is safe when it comes to making moves. Look at what happened to Tyrese, Hield, Barnes, Huerter, and Fox.

Yeah, defense was not good enough and bench had regressed. Maybe a good thing for keegan to land somewhere else. I feel like they are destined to be a middle of pack team.
It took them forever to get rid of Alex Len. Basically, their bench is Keon and Tre Lyles. Sad.

Just 2 years ago (in 2022-23) the Kings ended a 17-year playoff drought with a 48-34 record and the Western Conference's #3 seed.

I honestly thought they would gradually tweak the roster over time to not only get better but be able to compete for a championship. Instead, it feels like they are doing the exact opposite; every move seems to make the team worse. The Kings fans deserve better.

Remember that 2-0 lead vs the Warriors in 2023? Golden State then won 4 of the next 5 games to take the series 4 games to 3.

2023 Playoffs:

(#3) Kings vs (#6) Warriors — Golden State wins series 4-3.

How did you like Doug Christie's remarks?

seems to be a not so subtle jab at Keegan's defense.

From the article:

“When I saw the picture, I told him ‘The fact that you got down on one knee tells me that you can get low on defense,’ so plan on that,” Christie joked with reporters on Friday.

Charlotte @ Sac @ 9 PM on League Pass.
Starters for tonight: Keegan, DeMar, LaVine, Sabonis, and Monk.

After the Kings lost to the Pelicans just before the All Star break, and returned from it to get blown out by the Warriors, the need to examine the starting lineup has come to the forefront. Much talk around Sactown has been going on.

Look for a lineup change for the Kings in the near future. Don't know exactly who Doug is going to send to the bench from the starting lineup, but in my opinion, it will probably be Zach Levine. My reasoning behind this is that despite he and DeMar being similar in PPG, FG%, and FT% (DeMar a little higher), Zach has had a little trouble adjusting to the Kings offense as well as having difficulty creating for himself. DeMar has been most consistent in scoring and creating for himself. DeMar had also made it clear that when he came to Sac, that he would be a starter. Malik Monk has also pressed Mike Brown (even though he was let go after agreeing to a contract extension worth 30 Million) in the past to be moved into the starting lineup. Sabonis has to stay in. Keegan has to stay in. Keon Ellis has shown that he can play the point either as a starter or off of the bench as well as score while he's playing that position, as well as play shooting guard. Monk has shown that he can distribute the ball as well as running the pick-and-roll with Sabonis (which is a thing of beauty), but he's more of a shooting guard positionally.
Additionally, the starters are playing out of position as a whole as well.
