I’m eating Crow over my negativity and dramatics

Kudos to you for admitting it! There are many on here that would never admit that they are wrong; no matter how glaringly obvious it was. Better to be wrong about the sky is falling than wrong about a great team being a disaster.

I’m thinking I may be eating crow on this team as well....but I am kind of waiting until after the tournament to do that...it always seems like whenever I just get completely onboard Fran and his teams rip my heart out....

It's okay to invest the emotional energy. The team is good. It doesn't mean that they make it out of the first weekend of the tournament, nothing is guaranteed. My concern is that people see a Sweet 16 as an automatic. It's not. But this team is good enough to get excited about. They will give effort and they have talent. That's all you can really ask for.

Oh absolutely...the tournament is never a given but an occasional sweet 16 run once in a while is not a ton to ask in my opinion....past the sweet 16 you have to have serious talent and/or a lot of stars line up.
Just seems like Iowa is always invited but never asked to dance

By that time it will be too late. You are the very definition of a band-wagon fan.

Adding to this the frustration for everyone that the teams didn't even get a chance for additional tournament exprience last year.

But good thing is Fran's team showed us something vs Tennessee the last time they played in the tournament. I'm really hoping Bohannan steps up now, not only in scoring, but leadership especially end-of-game.

Hawks are good this year. Not as good as I had hoped. Hard to say if the consistency will remain into the tourney. I'd love to see us win the B1G, but I wonder if losing there could get us refocused for another 3 or 4 games to get us deep into the NCAA.

I’m optimistic but I’m not magically going to say I am all aboard the Fran train again....when he realistically may hit his ceiling once again of first weekend of the tourney.

At some point it will have been over 30 years since we saw the second weekend of the tourney and it’s time to wipe the slate clean and try again.
IF Fran can take this team deeper into the tourney I will be happily proven wrong

I'll eat my crow, too. During that 4 of 5 losing streak I was about ready to call this a typical Fran year, and thought we should start looking for a new coach.

I was wrong.

You know the first step in any recovery is admitting you have a problem. The road is long grasshopper but you have taken that first hop to enlightenment and happiness.

True, But when you think about it, IF we had played in the tourney last year. Its possible Luka would not have returned this season, so hopefully the stars have aligned for the Hawks.......

I grew frustrated, though they were generally very close losses, and I mostly chalked it up as the strength of the B1G...but I still think Fran did not maximize his rotations. It took him too long to mix up starters and bench players vs. the more often used one or the other approach (e.g. hockey line change).

Just leave negative comments in the game threads. What happens in the gamethread stays in the game thread.

When the year ends all but one team leaves it's fans saying " what if " . That team has to be very good and also get a lucky break or two along the way. For years my seats were adjacent to all the player's parents and watching their emotions rise and fall made you realize how much pressure there is on these kids to carry the banner of Iowa basketball. That's why I hate seeing any individual kid getting ripped by fans over a subpar performance. No one plays well or gets " up " for every game. Hoping for a sweet 16 and anything more is gravy to me...

@HawkeyeInCentralIowa you’re right, this has been a fun year and team. I look forward to the fun March madness run. 😘
Thank you for saying this. I wish people would stop overreacting every time we lose a game. I remember being that way when I was younger and thought every call against us was a bad call, every time someone made a shot against us, it was due to bad defense, every time we lost the coach should be fired... I guess, watching more games over the years, especially the NBA, and realizing that these are just young kids calmed me down. I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but I can tell from some posters comments that they are either very young and haven’t watched many basketball games, or they’re posting when they are drunk. 😏

QFT. I have to bite my tongue to not respond to some of those who post here. I have moments when I give in and let them have it, but much less than I used to. 🙂
