Sort of - but those actually making decisions in the Biden administration seemed to be mostly bureacrats and technocrats with a decent handle on how to function in government as it has been done for decades.
Now, the people "behind" Trump are unqualified, uniquely loathsome idiots, toadies and grifters.
So "we the people" are in a much more calamatious position.
Ok, I would like to make a bet on that. Avatar for one year, starting Jan 1, 2026, or upon you winning the bet if Trump is removed under the 25th amendment or dies from a health related cause (e.g. hamberders, not bullets) before the end of the year.
You can't tell me that Dr Oz and RFK Jr aren't amazing picks. One has a hot TV show and the other one has a soothing voice that we need in America right now.
What is this a flashback to 2017?
- His antics/conduct/behavior have been normalized and people have gotten used to it
- He has the same or even more dedicated base of followers
- He has thoroughly taken over the GOP and purged most all of the ones with spines
- His cabinet up an down is full of loyalists as opposed to traditional cabinet holders
- He's not a fluke winner, who lost the popular vote to Hillary with the Comey/Russia baggage. People voted for this.
- Much friendlier SC, who gave him criminal immunity
- He's got Twitter in the bag and tech leaders playing friendly
Besides being older and of poor health, I can't see how there's optimism that he'll be held accountable by anyone, much less his own cabinet or anyone from his party.
I think it would take some massive economic fallout from the combination of tariffs and deportations to even consider the possibility that Trump could be out. And I suspect they'd reverse course before something like that happened.

I've listened to and read a couple things from Vance pre-Trump. That would be 2018 ish and before. I disagree with plenty he has said before and much more since he converted to being an acolyte.
That said, without the trump effect, he isn't crazy. But that he pivoted so quickly after saying so many nasty things about trump should be a concern to folks on his moral compass. But prior to, he was reasonable and rational.
OP., I think you are stuck in 2015 framework of expectations of the President. You need to recalibrate your gauge on what is a act too far. Specific to him, the expectations have NOT shifted for anyone other than trump. He gets a perpetual pass and IMO he is still well within the acceptable range for most of his people. This does not move the needle 1 bit.
