I am not one to complain about Refs, but was anyone else done with this game 5 minutes into the 2nd?

The refs seem to take the momentum away from the Hawks early in the second. Several Blocked shots by UI were not clean and no calls, then ticky tacky calls on the Hawks at the other end. I have nothing against bad refs AS LONG as they are bad both ways. I am amazed it took Fran as long as it did to pop and pick up the Technical Foul.

After they called 3 IN fouls in like 30 seconds, the crowd let them have it. After that, I knew it was gonna be open season the rest of the game :(

Either way, the refs didn't cost us the game.......we just fell flat on our face!

Didn't think the officiating was bad. They always seem to let them play more in post season games. Indiana was just tougher and more physical

I didn't say the refs were bad. I am just saying that, that set of calls early in the 2nd, took the wind out, and we never recovered. Yes, we laid an egg in the 2nd half. And about the 3 straight UI fouls, should have never happened. We should have scored after the first offensive rebound lol

Those calls did not take any wind out of our sails. Please stop.

OP, are youkidding me? Quit trolling.

Maybe the original poster should read about the boy who cried wolf. Fans can't always blame the officials for an Iowa loss. IU was just a much better team today. Very disappointing effort from Pete, in particular. Worst game Baer has played as a Hawk, but he will be back...

You lose by 22, hard to blame the officials.

A pattern has emerged under Fran in BTT - perhaps it is coaching/preparation?

Please no excuses about Iowa's "youth" either.

not sure why fran might be to blame for this. our stats are about what they were for the year outside of getting out rebounded. indiana just shot way over their heads for the game. jok and baer were very bad , bryant was very, very physical in the paint but more than anything it was their shootng.

I never said the refs were bad or was I using them as an excuse. I am talking the body language of the players. When they didn't get the calls (and yes most, if not all were clean blocks) you could see it in their faces. At that point in the game we were very much still in the game.

The refs were horrible. They let Indiana get away with murder while calling phantom fouls on Iowa. I don't know how many times they can call a foul on a player for swiping at the ball while not actually making contact. Then giving Indiana a 3 point play. Iowa is an immature team and doesn't deal well with this kind of adversity. So yes, the officiating was the reason for the downward spiral Iowa got into. The Hawkeyes need to learn to play through it instead of just giving up.

wrong, dumb

Call the game the way the rules state and and College basketball would be much more enjoyable.
I agree, the game of push and shove under the basket is not how the rules are written. Bryant put his shoulder into Pemsl three times on one trip with no call. The refs didn't determine the outcome, but the physical play they allowed certainly contributed to the final margin.

Iowa defense was horrible, no one is doubting that. What caused the defense to be so horrible is the question? To the intelligent critical thinking observer, it is obvious the refs played a major role in this with their absolute biased officiating.

Now that is the definition of the pot calling the kettle black. IU kicked our butts. Let's hope the guys can forget it and get some good experience in the NIT.

So basically you are saying the meteorite that crash into Earth didn't kill off the dinosaurs??? It was the dust cloud in the sky that led to their demise. Come on dude, get real and learn the meaning of cause and effect. The refs were horrible and cause the Hawkeyes to lose their cool. IU did kick our butt but try to figure out why.

Was watching the game with friends that don't care about either team. I said I thought the game was called great actually. They agreed. And that's when we were down 20.

The refs had 0 to do with the outcome or the margin of victory in this game. Indiana flat out played Iowa. Refs were not biased and I have been a Hawk fan for my entire life. I don't buy into the conspiracy theories, but if you are understand that the Big 10 stood more to gain with an Iowa win unless Indiana goes on to win BTT. So just stop with the referee crap, this loss is clearly on our team.
