I forgot how AWFUL Illinois fans are

Michigan had a better year and it’s really not debatable. You beat them. Cool. That doesn’t make you champs. Beat Rutgers and Maryland and maybe you have a case

Bullshit dude. I hate you for making me defend Illinois but Illinois had the best year and it's not debatable. They've won the most games. Have the most quad 1 wins AND beat the living shit out of Michigan on their home court.

The B1G commissioner is an absolute idiot for announcing winning % would be the deciding factor when he did. There was no reason to do that.

Makes our conference look like a joke.

Seems so easy to just make it a "co-champ" year.
I know Michigan likely would have won the 3 games they were scared to play but didn't every team lose to a team (in conference) that they were a fav to beat?

You can’t just say “they would have won those games anyway.” That’s bulls*t. I would have taken Minnesota or any of the Indiana games as gimmes. There are no gimmees in this league.

Michigan also had 3 freaking weeks off to rest. Illinois played 5 of there last six games on the road. That’s brutal.

it’s just a farce that the commissioner gifted a title to those assholes before he had to. If Michigan loses to MSU tomorrow, you’ll have a situation where the “Big ten champs” are half a game behind the second place team whobeat the living shit out of them head to head.

it’s stupid. It makes the league look stupid. What a stupid assh*le our commissioner is.

Had this been the case with any other school but Michigan or Ohio State there would rightfully be a big stink about it. But it’s Michigan so .... yeah... they’re champs.

Sucks and I hate Illinois. If this was Iowa, I’d want to strangle someone.

Hard to understand why the OSU coach sits and watches Washington chuck up bad shot after bad shot down the stretch, when Illannoy had no one who could really guard Liddell. Pretty consistent pattern in OSU's recent losses. Washington looks like an All American at times, but more often than not, he is not playing within an offense looking for quality shots.

You hate me for making you defend Illinois?! C’mon. You’re obviously an Illinois fan and that’s ok. But Michigan lost two games. 1 against Minnesota when they were playing well while they played without their best defensive player and once to Illinois. You lost to Rutgers, Maryland, OSU, and MSU. I will reiterate... you lost to Michigan State. Trying to claim you had a better year is absolutely ludicrous

Illinois lost to Rutgers, Maryland and Michigan State. Go to bed.

stfu about me being an Illinois fan. Seriously. Look at my post history, dummy.

hey, you think if Iowa got a two week break in the middle of the season to rest up and then played three less games than everyone else in the league, do you think we’d have a better Winning percentage than we do now or worse?

Don’t be an idiot. Illinois already has the most wins in the conference with a tougher conference schedule.

If you scroll down the Twitter-like OZone board to the comments at the end of the game, the tOSU fans agree:

I went through a bit of your post history. Most of it was defending the Illini. If you think Michigan would have lost 2 out of the three games that they didn’t get to play due to their OWN GOVT shutting down their entire university with no positive cases in the bball team that’s cool. I’m of the opinion that they earned the title fair and square regardless of one single game against Illinois.

I’d probably be salty if Iowa would have taken care of business against Minnesota and Indiana twice, but they didn’t. Just like Illinois lost to some mediocre teams in the big ten. One game doesn’t make you champs. And claiming Michigan only won the title due to their govt enforced pause is laughable.

the schedules are unbalanced every year. Do you think Wisconsin was the best team in the league last year? Clearly they weren’t. But they won the games they should have and benefited from an easy back end of the schedule. If Illinois takes care of business against teams they’re clearly better than no one would be bitching. Instead you’re here whining about a team you don’t root for that lost games they shouldn’t have... Mmmmmmkay.

Raptorpeeps presents a good argument. If MSU wins tomorrow, there is ambiguity in the league standings. Co-champs would have been a better decision by the Big Ten commish than decreeing ahead of time that winning percentage is the determining factor, even though Michigan played fewer games.

I have hated Illannoy for decades, but it is debatable whether UM should be considered the outright regular B1G champion, especially when Illannoy handed them their behinds in Ann Arbor without their best player. I personally think they should have had to cram the missed games into their remaining schedule.

Vegas is already assuming Michigan will be resting their starters the entire second half. As well they should. They earned it.

Yeah, Michigan won the B1G fair and square. We knew it would be a weird year with covid and everything was laid out ahead of time.

Congrats to the Wolverines, they deserve it.

illannoy cheats. Always have/Always will. Look for Underwood to bolt soon, ahead of the posse. He's as dirty as the rest of 'em.
