It’s a false dichotomy. You either love everything Kirk Ferentz or you hate Iowa. It’s how they have to see it in order to maintain their self esteem.
It was actually the FXL o-fer season that was the origin of my PTSD. But I’m in remission now and will embrace the change that is coming sooner rather than later.

I don’t visit this board too often but those first two names really standout like trolls who don’t really celebrate anything about the team. Either they really don’t like Iowa or they have the single worst lives in existence with how personal they seem to take every flaw in this program.
Regardless if they are are Iowa fans or not, the amount of energy they devote to complaining on these boards does not paint a picture of purposeful or productive lives.

And then Bob Cummings. The student section used to stand and cheer whenever they completed a pass, which wasn't very often. So, we just kept drinking.
I absolutely enjoy every Hawkeye win, regardless who the coach is. 7-4 is better than 6-5. Those were the two only options before the game.
I don't know if many Iowa "fans" are actively cheering against them winning. If someone is, I can't see how that person can describe himself/herself as a fan. But, I wouldn't necessarily take someone's criticism of the program, even right after a win, as not wanting the Hawks to win. My only thought is to give it a rest for a second and enjoy the win. There's bundles of time to pick apart the program. And, Iowa losing that game was not going to hasten Kirk's departure, as that is going to happen on Kirk's terms, again, he's not getting fired absent some crazy, unforeseen event. If someone thinks that was a possibility, well . . . no.

As I’ve said before, Not at all afraid of Kirk retiring, That said I am also not a believer that Kirk leaving is going to lead to Iowa becoming much more than they currently are, I just believe the geographical and financial limitations are what they are and a new coach will face the same limitations as they try to elevate the program. Iowa is simply not playing on a level playing field with the upper echelon of the conference and I see no reasonable route to changing that.

This is true. It's not either/or. Everyone has to belong in some category, which tends to resonate with some form of extremism, nowadays apparently. I really don't understand why people can't understand that you can be a fan of Iowa but not KF. Really, any other aspect pertains to this as well. People take it as a direct assault far too often both ways when we all love the same team.
We do this shit for everything and it's not helpful in creating unity.
