IAwrestle's first wrestling event - Night of Conflict

How could you possibly top Thomsen and Gomez?

No idea, but all of these are great matches. This is going from a tournament I didn't even know about to a respectable preseason tourney practically overnight. I'll probably go to the dual and tourney now.

Well to be fair, you didn't know about it, because this is the first one.

Sorry I meant I had never heard of the Conflict at Carver, which Lars on the IAWrestle podcast said it has been around for like four years.

You are both correct, our event the Night of Conflict is making it's debut, the tournament Conflict at Carver has been around four or five years.

Which college?

I am assuming not Iowa's since that's where the event is so that leaves Ohio State, Okie State, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. Those are the only four he has already said he is going to visit and he hasn't announced his 5th. At least from what I remember.

On Flo Mark Hall has Ohio State, Nebraska, Penn State, Iowa and Minnesota listed. Is that an old list or updated list? Wisconsin and Ok State are not listed.

That is the updated list. He's not visiting Wisconsin or Ok state. Another example of the ebb and flow of recruiting

Caldwell is like 7-0 fighting in Bellator now so he's still in prime shape, but yes I would expect Metcalf to school him- just like I did the last time they wrestled. I don't think I've ever been more bummed out by a loss (that wasn't one of my own).

I don't know what you are doing to bring in all of these great wrestlers to your event, but whatever it is keep it up.iowa should hire you to help with recruiting. sure hope everthing comes off as planned.

Thanks! We are putting in quite a bit of work and hopefully everything goes well and we put a lot of fans in the stands to see some good wrestling. It's all about growing the sport.

+1 and it's Monday which means we should get a new match tomorrow on the podcast (come on Lars give us two more!).

I like the idea that they are trying to get the Iowa, Iowa State and UNI recruits to this event. Love seeing some of the national talent against the best Iowa high school has

Wow that's huge news!!! Congrats on getting Alex back to Iowa City. We got 8 as of right now attending the event!

Hager and I discussed this a bit on the podcast. There seemed to be a lot of chatter that Suriano was coming to Iowa. That fell through. Haven't heard much on Iowa lately, but kids can start taking official visits soon and aside from the crowd that verballed in thier junior year, this class seems to be taking it slower than last year.

I'm waaay late to this thread, but how is Mejia not pinned at the end of this match?
If not pinned (can make assumptions but can't see the far side back/shoulders) I've seen refs start counting back points in similar situations.

I'm sorry but how could you think he was pinned with that angle? It looked like his far shoulder was off the mat. I also don't know why anyone would compare Mejia to Metcalf. He is clearly the next Ramos. Everything about him is Tony Ramos. I can't wait for him to get in the room with our coaching and workout partners.

Just as I can't see a definitive pin I can't say he wasn't pinned. I can't see the far shoulder.
