Idiots on Hawkeye report.com

Constant whining, bitching, and the inability to acknowledge anything positive. Using personal attacks on the coach and his kids based on frustration vs objectivity and reasoning.
OK. In the heat of the moment I called Fran an idiot. I take it back. He's not an idiot. His personnel decisions during the game were idiotic. Is that allowable or should I sugarcoat it more? I don't want to offend anyone's sensibilities.

Those are not examples. Are you objective and reasoning, Superfan? If one has a different view than you, is that an example of whining and not positive?
Having a different view is great….I learn from those. Whining, bitching, trashing the coach based on frustration is more like the spoiled child that didn’t get their way….it’s not really a view….it’s a tantrum.

I love Fran but jfc some of you are such raging vajays... so what, we're not allowed to criticize Frans rotations? I don't see many taking personal shots at individual players. I root like hell for them and hope Fran is here for a long time, but if you don't think his rotations are absolutely mind boggling, then your opinion means nothing.

You don't see the MANY personal shots taken at Jbo and Fran's kids? Your post and YOUR opinions mean nothing, if that is the case.

I thought the game was clearly in doubt and if Keegan doesn't nail that long jumper, who knows what the result might be. Luckily, he has ice water in his veins and comes through for the team and the fans.
Iowa has had a couple of wins snatched from us here in recent years. Remember the TO that was denied us a few years ago and last year's fiasco. Winning a road game in this conference, no matter what the situation, is a big deal and while we didn't play perfect ball, we managed to hang on and get the W. Kudos to the coaching staff and the players!

So his decisions during the game we won were idiotic…..because they didn’t work well and you could see something different that could/should have worked better? Assuming that’s the case then the vast majority of coaches make “idiotic moves “ during games….based on fans views…okay.

Glad that you stated Fran was not an idiot..

So in this thread we’ve had the McCaffery boys referred to as spoiled…not terrible, but just an ignorant personal attack. Another calling our coach an idiot…just look a little bit and it’s blatantly obvious.

I see people rightfully complaining that theyre playing too much (or even at all in cmacs case). Is that considered a personal shot? Honest question because i dont see anywhere the level of personal insults that some are mentioning. Now if i overlooked some, then i guess my bad.. but to complain about negativity on a message board is kind of hilarious.

Go Hawks!

I never post on HR anymore (despite my legendary status) but damn why the hell is everyone so effing negative...when the Hawks were up 23 (on the road) there were dickwads whining about substitutions shot selection etc. in what I found to be an utterly perfect first half of basketball. The 2nd half comeback from Minnesota was in a sense inevitable but really....to anyone who knows anything about basketball the game was really never in doubt...just shut up losers.
They are living back in the days of Lute George and Tom where every game was a double digit win!

What are you drinking while driving today, OP?
we went with a New Glarus Staghorn Oktoberbest today....not as convenient to throw bottles out the window rather than drinking cans of spotted cow...but nothing better for drinking and driving that Staghorn.

My only problem was that Fran did not call a timeout way earlier when you could feel momentum changing and I mean right when Minnesota was on a 5-0 run, it was becoming apparent that a timeout was needed but as always, for whatever reason he lets it go, IMO he is very bad with the use of timeouts, always has been.
i would agree with that

I can see why you are upset. We beat a Quad 1 team on the road by only 10. We should have won by 50. What’s wrong with our coach. He didn’t play the player combinations I wanted! We missed some free throws and were hesitant against the zone while protecting a lead. Dangit we have to do better!! I mean other teams don’t have these problems. It is not like MSU lost to Northwestern who was without their best player!!

Hey now. You can't use that. I took it back and rephrased it as "His personnel decisions during the game were idiotic". That's not a personal attack, simply an astute observation. Which many agree with I might add.

Izzo probably made some idiotic decisions too. He probably said as much in his presser after the game. Players make mistakes all the time as well. It's part of the game. Just like fans commenting during/on the game. If that upsets you you should find something else to spend your time on. I hear needlepoint is relaxing if you like to use your hands.

Well, we probably should have won the game by 50 and the player combinations were awful lol. But as always a wins a wins s win. Go hawks

Come on. People take shots at JBo and Connor all the time on here. "He sucks" is the most common statement.

And what's hilarious is that you say people rightfully complain if Connor should play at all but after the Indiana win, you started a thread on Connor, praising him and saying that is why he plays. So, which is it? Sounds kinda bipolar to me.

This is what you posted about Connor after the IU win, after all.

I hate that you play but **** YES THATS WHY YOU PLAY. Love it

I'm pretty sure most of them are friends and family. You can't really blame them for being defensive I suppose.

That's an insult? Jfc lol

I dont like that he plays, and when he did and did good, i gave him kudos. That seems pretty amazingly fair and not personal at all to me. Gimme a break fran

And i dont say they suck.. and if someone does say that, i think JBo and CMac will get through it. Christ theyre older than 1/3 of the NBA.

Soft ass people in here lol.. my god

So those of us who think the personal criticisms go over the top are "vajays, friends and family"? LOL! we are Hawkeye fans, mostly alums, I assume (I am). I am not ashamed to talk to any of the players or coaches. Some of you definitely would not fall in that category. That neither makes me "vajay" nor "friend" (definitely not family). The worst you could accuse me of being is a fan.

Interesting.

Today, you write that you don't like that Connor plays.

However, again, after the IU win, you wrote the exact opposite; you made your case on why Fran plays Connor and you said that you loved it!

This is what you wrote about Connor after the IU win:

i am just pointing out how you say one thing one day about Connor's playing time and the exact opposite the next.

My god, indeed.

I just looked at another thread….just for a little bit, didn’t even finish it…..Fran was called a “bitch”….you would think I was reading Cyclone Fanatic…. But no, it’s our so called fans.

I dont want him to play and i was excited he had a moment and did what he should be doing if he is unfortunately in the game.. im not sure what's so hard to understand about thay. I'm allowed to be happy for him, he's a great kid.

There has to be something better for you to argue about because this is asinine. Sorry for not using big bold italics

I'm gonna log off for the night Fran.. get your last words in so you can sleep tonight. I'll make sure to roll my eyes at you in the morning. Go Hawks

Fans can be fans and still be critical. Most fans are at times. When it comes to criticisms of a team's performance I focus mine on coaching as I believe that they're ultimately accountable for everything and are paid handsomely for that responsibility. They are cerainly not above criticism as it's part of the job, any job. I don't agree with fans who focus their criticism on the player. I believe that the players are always giving what they have and if they simply don't have it, they don't have it. It still doesn't preclude them from being fans however.

That leads us to the nature of the criticism. Again, I think that coaches are fair game for most criticism. It shouldn't be personal but everything from recruiting to game and personnel management is open to criticism. It comes with the job and no one who is NOT a fan would care enough to offer criticism. If fans are critiquing a player, I believe it should be in the vein of their skills relative to how they're being used or another player. Saying Cmac shouldn’t be getting 15 per game as long as Kris isn't playing 25+ isn't a personal attack. It's an opinion. Disparaging Pmac and Jbo because they both played 30+ minutes and nearly the entire second half with limited production is completely misplaced. They played to their abilities. It was Fran's decision to play them almost the entire game and if I think that was a bad decision I'm going to say it. If you or Perry or Hooper has a problem with that I don't know what to say but if you don't like it feel free to place me on ignore. I don't really care.

Soft? Because we’re tired of the constant bitching and moaning? I’d say the people who can’t control their emotions and get so upset as to call players/coaches names, are the softest people on this board!!! If the outcome of a “game” has you that upset, it’s time to reevaluate your life! I’m a super fan though, so what do I know?!?!

I dont want him to play

Again, after the IU win, you made your argument on why Connor has been playing this season. You said you loved that he plays.

Now you are strangely doubling down and saying you don't want Connor to play.

I am just trying to figure out why you became so bipolar on this between the IU game and today.

Again, this is what you wrote about Connor after the IU win:

**** YES THATS WHY YOU PLAY. Love it

I think it’s about different personalities or how people perceive things….example

Connor is tough and won’t back down or some see it (he’s a thug or punk)
Fran fights for his players or some see it ( he’s a hothead)
JBo is too cocky or some see it ( gotta have swag)

We all have different views no doubt thus all the bickering. My 2 cents…Go Hawks

I appreciate your posts and especially your social media tracking of recruits and players, but just take a step back and let this go. The last word proves nothing.

It’s either trolls or people who never tuned in and rode with the program through its toughest years.

I remember being blown out and down 20+ at half numerous times in the Barn. It’s a B1G road win against a decent team who needed a W. 13-4 (3-3), solidified tournament team as it stands. Go Hawks!

Everyone has been demanding for years that Fran only play 9 players. Well, Fran played 9 today.

But that is not good enough! His substitution patterns suck! He's not starting the right 5!! Posters on here know what they are talking about; if only Fran would read this message board and learn from us!!! ;) Just kidding, of course.

Ok, back to reality, which is:

* Iowa got up 23 and relaxed. Big mistake; they will learn from it.

* Give Minny credit; they went to a zone and the game changed dramatically.

* Bottom line? Iowa won.

* A win on the road in the B1G is always a good win.

* An ugly win is always better than an ugly loss.

* Learn from it and move on to Rutgers.

GO HAWKS!!!

#RELB (raise, extension, larger buyout)
Zone and their 7' really slowed Iowa down in the second half.
7'ers slowed Garza down as well, may be an Iowa attacking the rim thing. Would be nice if our three point shots go down vs the likes of Purdue and Illinois.
