Would everyone else still be here, or would someone else (scholarship wise) not have come to Iowa?

I love the make-up of this team and wouldn’t want to trade anyone off of it, but gotta think Green would be a pretty nice addition.

Scholarship-wise, wouldn't he just have Till's scholarship? Obviously tough to tell how he would fit into the minutes, and what that would do for team chemistry/attitude in terms of players staying or leaving.

Well right now he would be our starting Pt guard. He’s a nice player. Probably wouldn’t have JoT because AJ is just a Sophomore, correct? What are everyone’s thoughts about that?

OP makes it sound like there was a choice in there. Green coming to Iowa was as likely as Zion Richardson coming to Iowa.

Honestly, it would have been nice to have both.

I whiffed on that then, sorry for the unnecessary thread. I for some reason thought I remember hearing/reading Iowa not wanting to recruit him.

Do you know if he did have interest in Iowa, if there would have been interest back from the Hawks?

Do you happen to know why he wanted to play at a mid-major school? Was it just a home town thing?

TIA.

“AJ Green pass to Zion Williamson for the massive slam for Iowa!”
Yeah, that would’ve been nice.

You realize his father is an assistant coach at UNI and AJ wanted to play for his father, right?

nope. I am all kinds of late to the party in this thread. Thanks. And I appreciate you being decent about it. I don’t ask questions often on here, because I am often uninformed (as in this instance) and usually get it shoved in my face by some wise ass.

He would be nice to have, but as others have stated, who knows what the chemistry would be like. Wonder how the legs hold up the second half of season with Connor, JW, CJ and Garza logging so many minutes. A healthy Jbo and / or Nunge would definitely provide better scoring options. There are some rotations Fran has to go with that make Iowa pretty anemic offensively. Evelyn, Joe T and Pemsl are pretty limited to say the least and Kriener is a bit like the Moss roller coaster of extremes.

As the other guy mentioned, no one else really had a chance with his dad being a coach at UNI.

Iowa absolutely would have taken him, he was a 4*.

Iowa would be a legit final 4 contender with him on this team.

And yes we probably don't have JoeT in that scenario.

Might not have CJ. CJ came here with without a scholarship and waited for one to open up. So the question your asking would be Green or CJ. Who ya taking. Honestly I haven’t seen Green play. But I’m taking CJ, he’s fun to watch.

Umm CJ committed to play for Iowa without a scholarship, but he had it before stepping on campus.

It's still a great story as he had offers from Indiana and Penn St, but let's get the story correct.

When you look at shooting stats between CJ and AJ, it's tough to make a strong case that either is clearly better. AJ takes more shots, but is that because CJ is different? More likely it is because Garza takes so many. If you added AJ to this Iowa team, JoeT would lose the most time, but you would probably just have one more guy who could be shooting more if he was on a team not surrounded by so much talent. I mean if you look at CJ's efficiency, you could argue that he should shoot more.

btw, that is why I don't really think that JoBo will add a lot next year. The offense is very efficient with or without him. (unless Garza or JW leave early) and defense is better wo him. blasphemy, I know...

That is what I said. My point was he might not have come if we signed Green. Fran probably had some sort of promise. Story correct?

Ok I'll play your game.

If.....Fran decided to recruit a 4 star player from Cedar Falls in AJ Green that was recruited by several other Power 5 schools....yeah, Iowa would be better.

He has decent size for a PG and can play off the ball too.

Would it really result to more wins? Probably just one right now.....Nebraska.

Okay the "came here" comment threw me off.I get your point that if Green were on the roster CJ might have looked at his other options more seriously.
