Imagine the possibilities.

Iowa would get to play in Des Moines for 1st/2nd Rounds. A court they have already played on this year and won (and play on annually) and not to mention the amount of home crowd fan support they would receive. I like their odds.

Sweet 16/Elite 8 would be in Chicago. They would have just played games in Chicago a few weeks prior in the Big Ten Tournament. HUGE Hawkeye alumni base in Chicago and only a few hours drive from Eastern Iowa. Again, would feel like a home court advantage.

Things are setting up very nicely for the Hawks right now. Senior laden team. If there was a every a year to do something special, this is definitely it. Des Moines/Chicago host locations for games, veteran team, no dominant college hoops teams this year like Kentucky or Duke. This has GOT to be there.

Would love to see them in Des Moines. Unfortunately (well, not unfortunate for the city of Des Moines) but the tournament is already sold out (according to a recent release) ... I will guess Des Moines will be one of (if not the ...) most attended 1st and 2nd round sites ... I work downtown ... If the Hawks somehow end up in DSM ... I will be trying to work any magic I can to land tickets ...

I agree things are setting up nicely. One question for clarification, isn't the btt in indy this year?

Yes BTT is in Indy. As for tickets, it will be like the B1G football championship x2. Local Clone fans will likely be trying to gouge Hawk and KU fans (not saying it's wrong, I'd probably do the same thing). Glad my Dad bought all session passes when they went on sale.

No guarantee that Iowa would be in Chicago if it survives DSM.
This is correct. Chicago is where the Midwest Regional semifinals and finals are, but the 1st two rounds locations can be in any of the regions. In other words, Des Moines is not tied specifically to the Midwest Regional, even if it seems to geographically. Iowa could theoretically be a 2 seed and be rewarded and play in Des Moines, and survive and advance to the West Regional semis just as easy as Chicago. If they are able to get a 1 seed, it would improve the chances of the Des Moines-Chicago thing.

Is Norman, OK closer to Chicago or Louisville? I think it's likely that a non-Maryland #1 seed from the big ten would land in Chicago

The Big 10 tournament is in Indianapolis this year, not Chicago.

Good answer but yet another reminder of why I really don't like what they did a few years ago with the NCAAs.

1) Stop calling the play in games Round 1
2) Liked it much better when you had to survive your region and advance...everyone in that site was in the same region. Now you have teams from multiple regions playing at the same place. I know the point is to get teams closer to their schools but doesn't seem like they have done much but make it more confusing.
3) I don't like the courts all painted the same...liked the individuality of it.

End of rant

I believe this year, they are calling the round of 64 the "first round" and so on.

I WILL BET THE FARM(if I had one)that if Iowa is a number 1 seed they will be in DSM and Chicago.

If you are a #1 seed, you basically get to play close to home. A few years back I think Duke didnt play a tournament game outside of North Carolina until the final 4. Wasn't the first rounds in like Greensboro and then the sweet 16/elite 8 in Charlotte? I could of swore it set up like that a few years back.

Regardless just cause Iowa plays in Des Moines, doesn't mean they get will get shipped to chicago. Where did Wisky have to go last year? Didn't they get sent out west?

I thought that if two Midwestern teams were #1s, the higher seeded team would get to stay in the Midwest regional and the other team would be placed in another regional. It would be great if the Hawks played in Des Moines and then Chicago, but I don't think that is a sure thing, even if they are a #1.
