... Duke can't seriously get a 1-seed, can they? They would not be regular season conf champ or conf tourney champs, and those 3 plus UK would have done both. And even Virginia would be more deserving. If conf championships matter for the football playoff, why wouldn't they for bball?

Duke lost to Notre Dame, a legitimate top 10-team.
I think the only room for movement at the 1 line is Villanova, they lose and either Wisconsin or Arizona slide it.

Duke gets #2 and we get our coveted #7 seed in their bracket, of course. Then we all long for the #8 seed in Nova's bracket. ;)

Careful what you wish for, right?

A lot of the problem playing Duke in the dance it that you almost always get to play them in their backyard with weasel face owning the officials. Any of the top teams is going to be a very tough match up.

Mercer wasn't afraid of playing Duke last year. Neither was Lehigh a few years before that. If you want to dance you got to play the big dawgs. Let's go!

Virginia lost last night so there #1 seed might be up for grabs, Duke is Duke so they get a 1 or 2 seed by default. the loss by Virginia just might be enough to give them the #1 seed in the East Region,. selection Sunday is going to be fun to watch to see who gets put where and to see who gets left out,

if Indiana gets left out for the 2nd year in a row the Vulture in Indiana will be circling while the wolves howl below,

Lehigh and Mercer faced lesser Duke teams than this year's. I believe they were 3 seeds, which is WAY different than Top 5-6 ranked 1 or 2 seed.

What does everyone think the odds are that our potential 2nd round opponent will be one of these two teams: UK or Duke? Since we'll likely be a 7,8, or 9 seed, Obviously math tells us it he odds are 2 in 7, so 29% (maybe 33% if Maryland sneaks into a 2-seed). Based on our history, though, I say it's at least a 67% chance that if we win next Thursday/Friday we'll play one of those two over the weekend ;-(

IU is definitely right on the edge of the bubble. I wouldn't be surprised if they get stuck in a play-in game, which might be more than they deserve.

Have watched several Duke games this year and last night's Notre Dame effort may absolutely be the blueprint for success.

On defense, they didn't double Okafor but hugged the 3-line tight. Basically acknowledged he would get his, then played hack-a-shaq late (Okafor's FT shooting is atrocious). Limited guards to 3-17 shooting from 3 so they could never dig into the deficit.

On offense, kept attacking the belly, got Okafor sent out for stupid fouls on a few occasions, kept making midrange jumpers and extra passes to the bottom of the zone. Without Jahlil on the floor, Duke has no identity. And, keep in mind, they only have 8 players.

Might be a turning point for playing against Duke. Requires making shots (not Iowa's forte) but another team could capitalize in a big way.

Palm still has Virginia as a #1, Duke down to a 2.

Oregon's big win last night pushed us down to an 8 seed.

Woodbury vs. Okafor....

If a team can get some refs that won't allow Okafor to lower his shoulder or push off with his off ball hand then Duke is beatable by a number of teams, including Iowa. Okafor is a great player, no doubt, but if they can call it tight inside there is a great chance Duke leaves the dance early. The only problem, getting refs that will use the rule books interpretation of a foul. After all, it is Duke.

Based on the interview with the VP of committee today between the B1G games on CBS, the top 8 are set, but the games last night had effect on the first 2 lines. Most likely this means Wisky is a 1 and either Duke or UVA, or both dropped to a 2. He said KY is the number 1 overall (big surprise).

He also said they had 14 at large teams they were choosing from for 5 spots, meaning all but one at large spot in the field of 64 is decided and they're just seeding now. He commented that seeds 3+ were most difficult since resumes were so equal.

If Wisconsin wins the tourney then they deserve the #1 seed.

Kentucky
Villanova
Wisconsin
Virginia
