If the hawks come out and throw 40 passes what happens?

It might work, but would definitely have to mix in things to slow their pass rush. Examples would be quick routes, screens, a few draws, keeping a TE in to help block.

what do think would happen if Iowa passes that much against OSU?

If they go totally off script and try to win with Staley’s arm and Fant, Easley, Vandy...

Would it open up the running game or would we simply fall on our face against the OSU defensive backs?

How is your offensive line? From what I have read your QB is not very mobile and Ohio State's strength is the defensive line.

I think the key to this game is OSU's self inficted wounds and their horrible ST play - both were on full display against PSU. They outgained PSU 530 to 280 something yards and completely dominated the LOS but yet had to pull it out at the very end of the game. Not exactly the way championship teams perform.

I also believe the one way for Iowa to beat OSU is through the air. Just don't see anyone running on that DL. .With all of that said, as a Buckeye, this game makes me very nervous. Just don't see the big margin like some on this board is predicting.

That's what I said to your mom. She's like those cheerleaders in the end zone after a score. She still hasn't learned. I score a lot.
So you're saying you take advantage of women? Not a good look at all.

Btw, now it's 40 pts. Deal with it.

P.S. sidebar, I like how your default comeback was to go to mom jokes. I expect more creativity from Iowa fans than that. I gotta have higher standards after all, just like with the fans who want Ferentz gone because he's not meeting their standards.........

Good luck.

Your routine is stale. It deserved a stale reply. Unoriginal is never funny. You're not funny.

Ohio State's strength of their team BY FAR is their defensive line, it's probably the best in the country, so being one dimensional on offense like some are calling for here and letting them pin their ears back and attack the QB every play would almost assuredly end very, very badly.
tOSU DL isn't even the best in B1G in sacks, rushing ypc, points.Their offense is explosive and Barret's, numbers are off the chart.

Gives OSU a lot more time to score. But, probably looking at a loss anyway.

Gives them more time to score as opposed to what? Running to the edge like we did vs. PSU and going 3 and out and putting our defense in awful positions?

TOP in that game was 40 to 20 in favor of PSU. I've been incredibly encouraged lately by Stanley, he seems to be improving quickly. I think in order to have a chance we have to reverse our tendencies in an effort to open up the run.

OSU is giving up something like 2.8 YPC on the season and given our run game issues that seems like a terrible idea to try to do 30 times.

(And right here, you say I'm unoriginal but there's nobody like me on this board...and for good reason :D... "Your mother" jokes are unoriginal. Try again, and do better this time.) You're not funny. (Sure, I am.)

Did we go 40 pts last time? 40 was it?

Make it 50.........

Is this supposed to be a joke? They have by far the best DLine in the B1G, nobody in their right mind would argue otherwise. Some think it's the best DLine Ohio State has ever had in school history.

The OSU DL will feast on our OL. It's not going to be pretty. The only hope is if the refs don't call every hold we commit.
I'd set the over/under on sacks and tackles for loss at 6 and 8 respectively.

You said by far the DL was the strength of that team. I disagree. Go look at their offensive stats...that is their strength. Their DL is very good. They don't lead the B1G in sacks, rushing yards allowed or points allowed. So no, I'm not crazy.

Your stale and unoriginal. (My stale and unoriginal what?) Put me down for 60 points. (You can't fford that.) And be sure to tell your mom, so she can get ready for me.
She doesn't have time for woman beaters, so you're gonna have to find some hookers and blow to tide you over for now.

Oh and it's 70 pts now. Iowa by 70. And Kirk stays just to piss you off even more.

Please name a better DL in the B1G. Ask the PSU O line how good they are.

The Hawks lose and OSU win the game by an even larger margin. Best stick with what works best so far into the season.

Offense is not a position group, which is obviously what I was referring to. No serious analyst thinks any of their offensive position groups are better than their DLine, and it's not even close, many draft analysts have their DLine as the best in the country.

Maybe if Stanley threw it 40 Times by the 30th one or so some of the mustard he throws it with would mellow out & he’d have just the right touch on every ball and complete the last 10 and the Hawks look good at the end!

Barrett leads that team. 70% completion, 25 TDs, 1 interception, 176 rating. That is who Iowa needs to slow down for a chance.

A 3 and out with 3 passes takes up about 30 seconds. 3 runs can take up about 2 minutes. I don't disagree with you but I think we have all watched enough KF ball to know this is exactly what he is thinking.

Count me as one who thinks this might be the best OSU DL ever and I've been following Buckeye football since the early 60s. It might not have the individual stars and starting unit as 2 or 3 former OSU lines, but it is certainly the deepest DL line in Buckeye history. They rotate 11 to 13 players every game - all very good/excellent players (former 4 and 5 stars). To illustrate their depth: both DE Hubbard and Holmes are projected by many to go in the first 3 or 4 rounds of next year's draft and NEITHER starts. Both are backups to Lewis and Bosa.

some great conversation in this thread, my hope is that the coaches don't think they can simply play the "iowa way" by winning in the trenches.

my fear is, as we've seen all season, they will run the same gameplan and we'll be down 21-0 and be forced to try and catch up.

in my opinion we need to come out fast, just like last week, throw throw throw and try to get a lead early and force OSU make mistakes.

Personally I think you are going to see the most blatant burn the clock type game that we have ever witnessed under KF. Makes me think, why play the game if you are just trying to play as little amount of football as possible.

This is how I see it as well. No way KF airs it out unless we are down by 20+ points. I'm guessing that won't happen until mid way through the 3rd qtr. After a couple of sacks, he'll reign it back in and play Careful Kirk football in an attempt to keep it respectable.
Having just typed this^^^, it's also worth noting that I said the same thing before last year's game against Michigan and we actually won that game. I think our poor OL protection precludes an upset of OSU but I've been wrong before.
