Because he said he would bring peace as a campaign promise, but at what cost was never outlined. If he brokers a good deal (Russia pays a price for their imperial aggression) then he gets credit. Likewise if he brokers a bad deal (Russia keeps what they stole) he gets the blame.

There is nothing partisan about my view on this. I would feel the same if it was Harris/Biden.
