Conversely, if we run Wadley off tackle all day and lose what bowl game do you hope for and why?

Win - Cotton Bowl assuming we win out with tons of momentum. Why? Time slot should allow us to be the only good game on so lots of eyes watching the Hawkeyes potentially beat up a Group of 5 conference team like UCF. Dallas has lots of Hawk fans already and is easy and relatively cheap to get to for Hawk fans from DSM/CID and Chicagoland. New venue we have not been to and a chance to build momentum for a Stanley led program for the next couple years. Hotels in the metroplex area will be cheaper compared to a coastal venue.

Lose - Holiday Bowl. Why? Sunny California that's why. Qualcomm is a huge dump that won't be around much longer and do not look for San Diego to build a new bowl quality stadium so not many chances left to enjoy it. Good beer and GasLamp quarter will be friendly and satisfying for Hawk fans and we can maybe get a chance at revenge against Stanford or play spread 'em against Wazzu.

If a loss I’m pulling for the music city bowl. Even if they win that’s an option. Not going to jump over osu , psu , MSU , Michigan or Wisconsin for better bowls.

If Iowa wins, hopefully some top teams are looking at NYC bowls, otherwise the 9-3 record prob takes us to music city or pinstripe bowl

Not West Coast, Detroit or New York. Nashville, Florida or Texas will do so we can drive there.

Getting another shot at Stanford or Florida is the best destination if we don't get the Cotton Bowl. Iowa may jump MSU or Wisconsin.

Get real people Iowa has zero chance of going to a top 6 bowl absolutely none...

Iowa even if they end up 9-3 will go to a lower tier bowl.

In order

Ohio State, Wisconsin , Michigan , PSU, Michigan State

Best case scenarios is that 2 of these teams represent in Cotton, Orange or Peach.

The other three will fill out the Citrus, Outback , Capital and or Holiday.

Iowa will be left with three options:

Nashville, New York, San Francisco

That's how the cookie crumbles

Not so fast my friend, there is still a chance for Iowa to be in the Big Ten Title game- slim chance but there is a chance. Furthermore, Iowa's SOS is off the charts this year so even without the Title Game and we go 9-3 there is still a chance that we do in fact pass these teams and there are about 15 scenarios in which this could happen. So when you say ZERO CHANCE- that is really far from the truth. It is not probable but surely is possible.

I wouldnt be so quick to put meatchicken above us, especially if we win this week and they lose next week.

FWIW I want to go to music city or holiday. Music city because it's close and in our recruiting area and holiday because we would get a pac12 team and I think that conf is overrated trash this year.

Bowl committees have to take a look at end of season momentum as it translates to folks spending money to travel to the bowl:

- Michigan still has to play Wisconsin and OSU so decent chance of losses there. This season is already a write-off to most Wolverines when Speight went down

- Penn State may win out over garbage and lose the fan excitement they had when they were thinking playoffs and a Big Ten championship. Barkley winning the Heisman may save them but I think that is announced after the bowl selections.

- Michigan St loses tomorrow and then they play B1G East JV teams and fans don't show up

- Ohio State loses at home tomorrow and the pitchforks will come out. Hard to see the usual Buckeye fan base excited then. Some Bucks would prefer to set up a guillotine on Lane Ave if that happens.

- Northwestern could end up having a respectable record and even still has a path to the B1G title game. Even for that to happen means we beat Wiscy tomorrow. We still leapfrog them in the bowls since we are drunken Busch Light fans with nothing else better to do after Christmas except pile in a car and go to a bowl game (unless they win the B1G Championship somehow someway - then they will sell out their 7,000 ticket allotment to the Peach Bowl and host a tailgate outside Mercedes Benz Stadium featuring Pinot and Prosciutto wrapped pear bites).

I would argue an Iowa team ending the season on a 5 game winning streak with wins over 2 top-10 teams would equal dollar signs to the New Years 6 selection committee over these other potential frowny-faces. In this scenario, Iowa plus Big-Ten title game winner goes to the NY6. Better yet, Gene Smith weasels the Buckeyes into the playoffs if they win out leaving two slots open in the NY6 for the conference (Championship game winner + Iowa).

Weird to think how important the win over Iowa State becomes. Need little brother to take care of business tomorrow too. SoS swings Iowa's way.

Would drive to Nashville! How much freedom do the bowls have with going out of order on conference record? For example, picking Hawks (and their fans) over somebody with better record.

If we win out and Wisconsin loses in the B1G Championship we will finish higher than them in the rankings. If Michigan St loses to Ohio St and we both finish 9-3 it will be a tossup between us of who finishes technically 3rd in the B1G. If they lose and we win this weekend I can see Iowa jumping up a few spots and Michigan St falling back to the high teens in the rankings. Northwestern can win out but they will not be ranked nor picked over Iowa. I think Iowa has an outside shot at a New Years Six bowl and a very likely shot at the Outback or Holiday Bowls. If Iowa wins out it will be no lower than the Holiday and as high as a New Years Six. I'm hearing a lot of people saying that there will be 3 B1G teams in the New Years 6 bowls.

Michigan State losses tomorrow as well as Wisconsin. Michigan will then beat Wisconsin and then Wisconsin will then be so distraught about their season they will lose to Minnesota when we win out the rest of the season we go to the BIG championship where we play OSU again win a much closer game and get to a New Years bowl in warm sunny Florida....

If Iowa beats Wisconsin and OSU beats MSU this weekend then Iowa may be ranked higher than one or both of them. They’re looking for a reason to drop Wisconsin and it would be MSU’s 3rd loss. Most likely Iowa will be ranked right behind those 2 and could 6 B1G teams in the 11-20 range.

We’ve agreed if Iowa is in Nashville, Texas or Florida we’re driving

The Quick Lane or the Heart of Dallas; I just want a Bowl win. Start 2018 with a 6 game winning streak.

Cool story, but two problems:

1) Iowa would also need Northwestern to lose a game (possible)
2) B1G Champ cannot go to the Orange Bowl this year

Very wide range of possibilities for Iowa's bowl destination this year, but it sure looks a heck of a lot better than it did a few weeks ago.
