If Fran retires, the new coach will need to clean house and upgrade talent across the board. This is YMCA level garbage.
If you consistently recruit MAC level talent, you become a MAC level team. We are nothing more than a MAC program. Embarrassing.

Agree about the talent .. but I still think if you put these guys in a system that stresses defense and rebounding it would help a lot. It's ultimately on Frans system

That’s another knock on Fran. Playing Drake and UNI would drum up interest in the non-con, instead of playing eight games against North Carolina State Western Agricultural Studies University.
Em boys from da city don’t want to come to a school and be surrounded by Dix, Sanforts, Harding Freeman and Koch. Maybe one or two of em but not a whole klan of em.
This is an unfair comparison. MAC teams are usually competitive in the tourney and at times will actually win first round games.
Iowa is likely the fourth best team in the state right now.
And the Iowa powers-that-be are like:
Why not a Sun Belt, Summit League, or a OVC team?
Why is it always the MAC? Give love to these other mid-major conferences too......unless you're simply inferring the MAC is the worst of them all to heap the most amount of shame on Iowa............
So is Stirtz just a mid major player or is he a high level player playing at a mid level? I mean, he was a DII recruit. Many people say he would be Iowa's best player if he were to transfer to Iowa if McCollum would be the next coach.
