If you had the control to pick your next coach for Iowa football šŸˆ

Woods or Wallace would be the logical safe choice that would bring the most stability to the program. It likely also keeps PP in house for another few years as they have all worked together for quite a while. Lester has been phenomenal. Barrett, line hasn't been great during his time but this has been his best group. Betts and Hodge have been killing it.

Now, the other thought is to clean house and start fresh but you run the risk of cratering out for a year or two.

Okay, bob. Put your money where your mouth is. Whom would you promote?
I would promote no one--the only one qualified is Lester as he has been HC in MAC--Parker would be qualified but would not be interested plus age...
That is part of the current problem--KF handing out titles so he can give certain people large raises before he goes.
LW and SW are on the lower end of our better recruiter list so why would recruiting be better if you made one of them HC?

Okay.

Iā€™m not saying youā€™re wrong, and maybe it would be best just to blow the whole thing up and start over. I donā€™t know.

I do not know that part either but I am pretty confident that no one on the current staff would be an improvement.........

Going Woods over Wallace would be a problem. Wallace is already asst Head Coach.
Why would KFā€™s choice to hang a rather meaningless monicker on be the only candidate for HC among his assistants? Why would BG care about that? Donā€™t get me wrong; I donā€™t want anyone on the current staff as Iowaā€™s next HC, I just donā€™t get your thinking.

Would never happen, but I would pick Cignetti. Guy has as impressive of a resume as I have ever seen.
Levar Woods, as he is a class act and former Iowa player who certainly knows/would continue the ā€œIowa Cultureā€. Also, since heā€™s African American that would counter any lingering racial overtones against the Ferentz era and would help with re-cruiting. šŸ˜‰. I also think keeping a current staff member as head coach, likely helps to retain Parker as d coordinator for a few more years.

Maybe not but the title wasn't completely meaningless. He filled in at HC when KFz was suspended. Not the "only" candidate, Woods is certainly a great young coach. Either way, it is rare an incoming coach keeps current staff. the usually want their own guys.

I could see it happening at Iowa though. Continuity and culture are more than just cliches. Kirk did keep some Hayden guys, didn't he? Carl Jackson? Bielema? But of course, that's a little different...Kirk had previous connection to the program.

With B1G $$$, BG will have dozens of options when that time arrives.

Hopefully, sooner than later.
We know why KF is hanging on, but with likely 6-6/7-5 seasons on the horizon, that .600 winning percentage required to make the HOF, he ain't making it.
Realistically, passing Woody Hayes should be the goal.

Rhett Lashlee from SMU. Last time we hired a guy who had prior history at SMU, it worked out pretty good.

Not a Wallace fan at all. If he is the next head Hawk Iā€™m going to really struggle to get on board the bandwagon.

I really Liked Woods, but I think at this point Iā€™m ready for some totally fresh ideas.

Hayden wasnā€™t an Iowa guyā€¦.

Promote Seth to HC, promote LW to assistant HC and ST coach, PP as DC, TL as OC, have TL find a new OL and WR coach.

None of that explains why "Going Woods over Wallace would be a problem." Exactly what problem would it cause? Seth would obviously move on and would probably get a really good coaching job, probably as DC. You think bitterness would reek through the program? I seriously just don't get it.

6-6/7-5 in 2025 would be exceeding my expectations. KF's only chance to retire with a >.600 win percentage is to win the bowl game and walk away.

I know he talked shit about an Iowa assistant coach during his documentary (guessing it was Phil Parker).
Bert was nasty about Iowa's weak schedule and worn out style of play. Said only reason has any success. Get drubbed by any team with a pulse. Bert will never get the Iowa job.

Jesus man, it was a passing comment noting that Wallace (by title) would seem closer to HC if they were going to promote from within. That's all. I'm not engraving the side of a mountain.

The other stuff was just response to your thoughts on making a clean break from any current staff.

Offer it to Phil but if he says no, then offer him a 5 year deal as the highest paid DC in country.

If Phil says no, then Woods is my pick.
