Like I posted yesterday. The next 5 Illinois opponents are all ranked. Let’s see how they handle the pressure.

Hawks are better than Illinois. Iowa will win by 11 or so. Illinois has won 7 straight but many close games: by 1 at Wisconsin, by three against Rutgers, by 4 against Northwestern, by 2 against Michigan. Good wins in there for sure, but they are pretty close to being 3-4 in that stretch.

During halftime of the Iowa game, I turned to Illinois-Minn. Just over a minute left and Illinois up one. Illinois player falls down and travels. Fouled called on Minnesota. Terrible call. Changed game.

Lowly Illini fan here. I love Illinois' chances.

I hope for an injury free game and an Illini W. Very excited to see Garza vs Cockburn. Get your popcorn ready!
It's gonna be a war. I don't love your chances but you certainly have a decent shot. You have a very good team but so de we and we are at home.

I’ll take the home team by double digits.

Illinois is obviously much improved from last year but they still have no one that can check Garza. Look at what Oturu did to them last night, e.g.— no answer. They will have trouble guarding our shooters and the way we push the tempo will stress their defense.

I see both their bigs in early foul trouble and Iowa winning comfortably. The only wildcard I see is if Frazier or Griffin catch fire from three. Otherwise, this is a double digit win for the hawks. Iowa is just too much better offensively, and they’re at home.

One of the problems Illinois has had with Iowa is they are so aggressive defensively and playing an Iowa team that is adept at drawing fouls leads to a lot of fouls, and free throws for Iowa.

You must not have watched any of Illinois this year, we've completely changed our defense. Last year we were #338 in foul rate on defense, this year we are #13. No doubt Iowa will still have the benefit of playing at home, but the "aggressive defense" you saw the previous 2 seasons is gone.

Indeed. One of the reasons for your improvement.

Still... you won’t be able to stop both Garza and our outside shooting.

Or maybe, like last night, you are just getting the advantage of the ref's calls this season.

Bro, we’ve played road games, too ... and gotten plenty against us, especially at Wisconsin. Won ‘em anyway, more than any Big Ten team in conference play. We’re all nervous for you guys in IC, but your players will NOT be writing off the Illini’s squad like some of your fans.

Unless one team is just playing out of their minds (like another school record shooting performance by you guys) or is just way off their game (like Kofi fouling out super early or whatever), this should be a battle between two very good basketball teams.

Defense — as they say — travels, and Illinois plays better defense. I just think that it won’t be better than Iowa’s offense especially at home (although I think we win in Champaign this year too).

I don’t know how many people realize that Illini coach Brad Underwear was Chris Farley’s inspiration for his famous character Matt Foley the motivational speaker. Underwear actually used to live in a van down by the river, and is thrice divorced. Used to tell recruits they were not going to amount to “jack squat”.

Fran should maybe try that schtick with recruits because Underwood is getting some damn good talent.

I definitely think we beat you in Champaign, but my money would be on you being correct on this game. Iowa’s shooting is due, IMO, and that’ll be tough to overcome.

The Illini are a nice looking team but certainly beatable.

Arizona, Missouri, Miami, Maryland, and Michigan State say "yup." And Iowa is better than four (and maybe all five) of those teams and we're at home (the clincher).

Pretty darn confident here. I surely am not. Carver needs to bring it and carry them over the edge.

True. I'm guessing we'll try to limit the 3s and hope we can keep Garza under 40.

For the whole season? Doesn't seem likely. We've had to play in Madison, E Lansing and W Lafayette where you don't get any calls.

We fouled a ton last year, not this season.

^ One thing all Big Ten fans should agree on is how often the road team gets

S-C-R-E-W-E-D

in Madison. Makes winning there sweeter, I guess.
Very glad you don't have anything to do tonight. Most likely we won't hear from you again under your new forum name, after this Sunday. Damn

I’m nervous about this game. Ill, Wis, Mich St, & Rut play the muck it up style that Iowa usually struggles against.

We’re better against the b-ball teams that play a more skilled style. Like Mich, Mary, & Oh St.

You mean like WI? Texas Tech?

Iowa can play brawl ball this year, too. This hame will come down to which team can shoot it. And I like Iowa's chances at home. Iowa has to go to Champaign for the last game before the B1G tourney so winning Sunday will be big.
