Or if he's rather ordinary but it sure looked like he took the evening off. Rarely had his name mentioned, always seemed to be in the wrong place and Minnesota really took advantage of him whenever they wanted. A little disappointing for a senior LB considering the other studs we have playing LB.
Has this kind of been the norm for him this year or did he just have a bad night?

Yeah he didn't have the best night that's for sure. Our whole defense was off last night but Minnesota's offense had a great plan and they executed it well.

At one time early in the year I thought Jewell was going to be WLb and Perry at MLB but that didn't work out I guess.Jewell could play any where that's for sure .Fisher will be fine.

Not for sure but I read somewhere last week he was dealing with migraine headaches the week before, not for sure it dealing with them still.

He's not very good, and you can see why he never came close to even sniffing the field before this year.

Weak links like this are why Iowa is barely a legit Top 10 team.
Wrong dude, Fisher has played very well all season. There were a lot of guys on defense that were off last night. A lot of pass coverages were blown by our secondary and the D-line, (except Meier ) seemed to get pushed around more than we have all season. You have to give the gophers credit. Go Hawks!

Fisher has gotten worked all year long. There's a reason that nobody else in the country wanted him and that he was barely good enough to see the field in his 5th year. Go back and watch the Illinois game. I DARE you.
Tough to argue with. He's a great kid and I have to hand it to him for sticking with the program but Minnesota intentionally picked on him and Mabin for a reason.

This is the tenth game of the year, why is the first time you've mentioned him ? It's only one game relax sport.

10th game of the season and our defense was gashed by a Minnesota offense that's averages somewhere in the 20's. I totally get that sometimes the defense just doesn't have it but after re-watching I was surprised by how much 36 was involved in the Minnesota play scheme.

The Gophs definitely took advantage of Fisher and Hesse the whole game, and exposed Mabin and Taylor at times. Not ragging on them (the Hawk players), but the Gophs had done some serious homework. Actually outside of Meier, I would say the Dline had its worst game of the year by far. Fortunately it wasn't the Huskers or Ohio State on the other side of the ball or it probably would be one in the L column. Hats off to Claeys and staff for playing Michigan, OSU and the Hawks so tough with a totally depleted roster. Here's hoping Parker and the boys get it fixed in a hurry.

I noticed, too. That's two games in a row in which he's looked pretty bad. Maybe he's hurt, but he's definitely been a liability.

I think he has been a pleasant surprise but him and Mabin are usually getting picked on. The D as a whole played soft last night. When you get zero pass rush it can become hard for a LB to keep with WR/TE's all game. The main weakness of the D is the line not getting pressure (missing Ott)

I agree. Was just going to post something similar. I thought Fisher was having a nice year, but the last 2 weeks were pretty bad performances on his part. Hopefully, he finishes up the season strong.

I thought the whole defense had a rough game except for Jewell and King. But even Jewell made some mistakes. Really missed Ott in this game because the front 4 was getting no pressure.

Purdue and Nebby will be going over the game tape expect more of the same..

Minnesota played well on offense and clearly studied Iowa's defense and found opportunities. This could benefit the Hawks as they got a lesson in what they have been showing other teams on film, a take corrective action to fix it. Hopefully we don't need to cheat up and over-commit to one side to stop an offense.

He was dealing with migraine for first part of Indiana game and it probably had some impact the rest of game. I don't recall him playing that badly though.
As for Minnesota, the TD pass against Fisher was a well executed play. TE was lined up on other side and then snuck out as their QB rolled other way. Have to give credit to other team at times. Overall, Fisher has played well and, as noted, plenty of Iowa players were getting beat or out of position Saturday night.

Agree....Minny did a heck of a job on two plays. The first sneaking the TE out the opposite side and the LB lost coverage, and then the running back pass. Our DBs were coming hard and got fooled. They devised a few plays and used our aggressiveness against us. Hats off to their coaching staff on those two especially. The last TD drive at the end of the game we just looked like we were going through the motions. Roughing the passer did not help either.

Look around the country. Lots of good defenses got exposed and some upsets happen. Not uncommon. Oklahoma State has a statistically good defense and they got lit up by Iowa State for a half. Michigan's superb defense was taken apart by Indiana. Iowa's D struggled with Indiana. LSU gave up 31 to Arkansas and lost. Utah gave up 37 to Arizona and lost.

Big thing was Iowa won. Keep the thing going. Take care of the division title against Purdue and then focus on Nebraska.

Anyone know if Jaleel was hurt? He didn't play second and third to last drives and I didn't pay attention to if he was in for the last one? He was standing on the sideline by Doyle..

Minnesota had a great game plan and when you have a QB that can run and get 4-5yds a pop that is tough to stop. Also Minny used a lot of mis-direction plays, which unfortunately for Iowa worked. Most times Iowa's defense is very disciplined and doesn't fall for those mis-reads. But saturday night they were caught peaking in the backfield and it burnt us for 2 scores. Lets not forgot Minny offense also had a field day vs OSU & MICH. So they were able to move the ball against other top defenses as well.

I think Iowa will be able to settle down vs Purdue & Nebbie. MInny Oline was very good at holding their blocks and Minny's TE played very well.

This was a great win, enjoy it. Since Kill stepped down they should have beaten Michigan and hung with OSU. Minnesota had a great game plan and we still won. Everyone needs to relax and enjoy the season. 10-0 for the first time EVER and people still find a way to bitch. Your lives must be miserable.

probably gassed from playing every snap. They barely subbed this game.

Yeah, was his worst game of the year but he has played great this season other than Sat night. He had migraine issues last week and am sure it caused him some rust.

Gotta give Minny a little credit though. They played about as well as they can on offense the other night...and still lost.
