Increase Murray Minutes

Why do you people here think that Fran will change Murray’s minutes played now?
it’s just a tick over what it was with Nunge.

fran will continue to play his starting 5, unless there in additional injuries to guards, then Fran will back fill with Perkins.

fran does what Fran always does, and playing Murray in back up role is why Fran does

Yep, unless there are injuries, the lineup won't change. Might as well get over it. But if anyone isn't quite sure what my opinion is on the OP, I suppose my arm could be twisted. 😏

Some sarcasm on here about the importance of post feeds... Does Garza average 23+ a game without them? As a former post, there's nothing more infuriating than guards/wings who won't or can't enter the ball in the post, especially to a stud like Garza who typically either scores, gets fouled, or kicks it out to an open shooter. Post feeds are essential to our offense.

Stop making sense!

Theres 3 other guards on the court.

Connor is a great passer but he's also makes double teams allot more effective for the opposition and that is reflected in the advanced stats.

He neds to play more than 15 minutes. 22 minutes seems right to me.
Murray is the 3rd most productive player on team and is the best, near elite defender and offensive rebounder

it’s unfathomable to me that you wouldn’t let Garza, Wieskamp and jobo hunt their shots and let Murray crash the boards for 2nd Chance offensive rebounding opportunities while simultaneously upgrading the defense on the other end.

are those margin of feeding Garza by Conner vs feeding garza by the others so significant that it exceeds the added possessions and points prevented that Murray would generate if he played +33 minutes/game?

the margin is not even close

How many times on how many boards do I need to quote the great Charles Barkley?

"IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T BREAK IT!"

Let's not change a line up that's earned Iowa its highest seed ever, and only had that once before (34 seasons ago), our best winning percentage in years, the most Big Ten wins in 34 seasons and 3 recent wins against a 4 seed and a road win against a 2 seed. Our only recent losses were to one seeds and one of those had the strong whiff of Big Ten officiating.

There are times to try new things, now is not one of those times.

We’re a 2 seed despite CM...
He’s not the reason we are seeded this high. Everyone outside of Fran Mccaffrey can use their eyes and see KM is the better player.

You realize that everything on the offense is based on feeding Luka in the post, right? The number one objective on almost every non fast break play, and even on some fast breaks. It isn't a pretty thing but getting job 1 done is extremely vital to this team.

Now next season, without Luka and no known dominating post scorer on the roster those priorities will change.

I think Keegan brings much more overall to the table and I know plenty disagree with that but a big factor for me is Keegan is the future. Playing high profile minutes in the dance will be huge for his growth and a great investment.....would find a way to get him 25 minutes if he's on his game and not in foul trouble.

I do think he is better off the bench, seems like a smart kid who observes and gets a feel for the game then brings it when his name is called. I also think his super calm demeanor is a nice balance to other guys who aren't so calm. So excited for his future, Kris too

yeah I get it, Connor has 2 or 3 good entry passes a night. Still doesn’t justify his minutes. Completely non existent offense, slow footed on D. KM brings a lot more to the table.

CMac plays good d. Not flashy like Keegan but he does very good help d.

Also, what happens if Ke Murray starts and he or Joe Dub or even Luka need subbed? C McC cannot adequately substitute for any of those three while Keegan can play for all three. Finally, think of when the team that lost to DePaul became the team that beat Texas Tech, Nunge injured and Connor starting. What we're doing is working very well. Tinkering usually backfires.

There is no rationale that makes sense to keep a superior player on the bench to play an inferior player...

Fran also ‘tinkered‘ with switching to M2M defense 10 games ago and Iowa has been one of the best in the USA.
Tinkering does work
