My first time seeing the Stealth fighter flying over. At the 2002 Orange Bowl it was the Coast Guard helicopter.

Also, I'm 99% sure this was my first game where the Goodyear Blimp was flying overhead which was cool to see.

Not that it matters, and I could be wrong, but I don't think that's the Stealth fighter. I think it's a B-2 bomber. In any case, cool pic.

That is pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing. Reminds me of the famous (infamous?) jet flyover at Kinnick before the OSU game in November 2010. The jets were so low they nearly clipped the press box and scoreboards. Anyone who was there won't forget it... But again, the B-2 stealth over the Rose Bowl is so cool. And, of course, for us Iowa fans, that was about it for the day.

Yeah I thought there was more or equal amount of Stanford fans at the game. Seemed like more Iowa fans before but we were all staying there /around there vs. Stanford fans a lot of whom came in day off game

The stadium was about 60/40 or even a bit more than that Iowa fans.

The b2 bomber was awesome. We were at the parade and it hadn't began yet when we heard a bunch of people start cheering. All of a sudden the b2 flew overhead.

Same thing at the game. We were in the North end zone under the jumbotron and heard the crowd start to roar as they saw it approach.

I was struck by how quiet it was compared to the other jets I've heard flyover, but then, I guess it IS built for stealth. Really cool to see in person.

Everything I've read calls it a B-2 Stealth Bomber, so I think we're both technically right and technically wrong.
It's a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber. It's counterpart is the smaller F117 nighthawk stealth fighter. The B2 I think is way cooler to see. The big bombers dont maneuver like the fighters you see at demonstrations, but there's some refined elegance in how something so powerful and destructive moves when you see it up close

Almost all of the people on the press box side were Hawkeye fans. We also went all the way to Section 11 in the end zone. Not that it matters, but the crowd was at least 60% Iowa. Most pictures you see are of the non-press box side, which was Stanford's sections.

Yep, it's a B2 Stealth Bomber, looking at my kid's model now, it matches the pic.

The picture looks photoshopped if you look at the b52. How would you get the picture as any plane would have to be above this and that be difficult to have airspace clearance. Osu flyover was incredible experience. My daughter was sitting in south end zone for that flyover and said she actually ducked because it felt the planes were that close

I'd guess it was taken from the Goodyear blimp. It was also in the air at the time and would be a pretty stationary platform to get a good picture from.

Did anybody see what kind of fighter this was? I was blown away as it flew over.

It was a p51 mustang. One of the technological revolutions of the 21st century on the front line of the North Korean Air Force.

North Koreans would think that B2 was a UFO if we flew it where they could see it. Everytime I see our Air Force at sporting events I thank God I was born an American.

Sadly, the pilot leading that OSU flyover got in trouble for it later. The USAF regs for that stuff call for being 1000 ft above the nearest obstacle, which they weren't. :(

The B2 bombers fly out of Whitman airforce base in Missouri. We were on a family road trip when my six year old says, "Dad, that flying saucer is going to crash into us!" I look around and can't see anything. Then all of a sudden the B2 is perfectly outlined right above us through the sunroof. We literally were perpendicular to the runway right as it was taking off. It was very cool. Was closer than any airshow or flyover that I had been to. It certainly did look like a flying saucer.

You said Stealth fighter. That's a different airplane than the Stealth bomber. Not really a nitpick. It's like referring to a B-52 as a fighter. The stealth bomber is the B,-2 Spirit, which is what flew over the Rose Bowl. When people refer to a Stealth fighter, they are usually talking about the F-117 Nighthawk.

Redundancy does not become you, LC.

Plus, the stealth fighter doesn't fly any more. They are considered retired, but the reality is they are just inactive and being stored.

I wish I could be retired so I could worry about such trivial matters. It's the "Stealth" I was "technically right" about. Fighter/bomber I was wrong about. Learn something new everyday. I'll repay you on your next laptop question which will be along shortly.
