I'll guess we'll find out if they're contenders or not. I'm wondering how many points Michigan scores against them.

You sure would think IN will be favored only at PSU.

Still have to be worried most about MD for the outright B1G at this point.

Not just a tough 4 games. The next 9 is by far the toughest stretch for them. After the 4 yo mentioned they get Nebraska, followed by Purdue,at Illinois, at Iowa and Maryland.

Iowa is in a really good spot given the way the schedule played out and they way the other contenders will play out over the next 5 weeks.

IU has a lot of talent, but they can be had by any team that can keep them from going runs. Wisky exposed a weakness that most thought was gone with their big freshmen. If you have a big who can drive and score, you can isolate and they aren't good one-on-one defenders. You also need to control Yogi, which isn't easy if he starts feeling it. I think IU will be lucky to go 2-2 in the next 4.

As of a few games ago I thought they looked really good, in spite of the schedule. Once they have started to play other teams that can control tempo and play good defense they don't look nearly as good. That said, once they find their stroke from 3 they can beat anyone. I think a team has to be prepared to get back on defense much quicker than normal and be in their faces at 3 point range from the opening tip.

I'm thinking that hopefully with the schedule lightening up the next month or so, that Iowa can give their starters a break hopefully for most of the games and rest up for a March push

We will find out a lot about Indiana in the next 2 weeks. Don't look now but Michigan is right in the thick of things as well. It looks like Iowa, IU, Michigan and Maryland at the turn. Iowa has the advantage because of the schedule we have played so far. MSU and Wisconsin can only be spoilers.

It would not surprise me if Indiana finishes 3-6. Depending on who those 3 wins come against, they would be in serious bubble trouble even at 11-7 with that awful schedule.

I don't see it. Indiana is quite talented and yes their coach isn't very good. But it seems that since Blackmon went down, they have really improved on the defensive end which is what they needed.

I would guess that IU goes more like 5-4 in the second half, which would put them at 13-5 and either in a tie for second or in third place in the B1G. With Iowa's schedule, IU probably would have lost a couple more games and been a pretty low seed in the dance.

Funny thing is most of the IU fans over on Peegs are at least as pessimistic about their chances, many more so.

Thought they might be feeling fat and happy at 8-1, but the general discontent with HTC seems to carry the day. In particular, too many late-season tank-jobs for lots of confidence now.

Not that I can do much, but I'd be glad to oblige their pessimism.
