Doc had this interesting tidbit in his (very good) long interview with KF recently:
Ferentz has watched teams ebb and flow throughout his coaching tenure, including his own. Had the 12-team playoff been in place for Fry, Iowa would have qualified four times (1981, 1983, 1985, 1991). Ferentz would have earned a similar number of trips (2002, 2004, 2009, 2015). Both coaches would have had a handful of teams just on the outside of a berth, too.
