Most athletic player? “Josh Jackson.” The cornerback depth should be in good hands when King moves on to the NFL with Jackson back there for the next 3 yrs. Maybe he aught to be returning kicks rather than McCarron? Not bad for a 2 star recruit whose next best offer was Colorado State.

Strongest guy on the team? “Aaron Mends.” That's saying a lot, esp when Mends is just a 220 lb sophomore. The kid must be a weight room freak. Hopefully he'll prove to be a sanders style hard hitter.

Which coach yells the most in practice? “Coach (Phil) Parker.” I would have never guessed this in a million years. He seems soft spoken, unlike Brian F and others.

I used to think the same thing about Phil Parker...until I sat behind the team during the 2014 @Pittsburgh game. Phil was fired up...yelling at the players...motivating them in the second half. It worked...Iowa's defense stuffed Pitt the last two quarters.

Of course, CJ eliminated himself, cuz we all know nobody is more athletic or stronger than him.

I hope to see the most athletic player replace the strongest player against 4-WR sets and on 3rd or 4th and long this year. Iowa's tendency not to sub in these situations created some bad match-ups, and is probably the number one factor that kept a couple of games close last year.

Amen.

Iowa rarely keeps all three LBs on the field on 3rd or 4th and long. This would have been a legitimate gripe 5 years ago, not so much now.

Fant, Hockenson and Beyer all look like they could be stud TE's. And seeing that Josh Jackson may be the most athletic proves that when he signed, the offensive and defensive coordinators were fighting over him to see on what side of the ball he would play.
