Interesting SI article on D.J. Hernandez

Didn't read it all but having to carry around your brothers sins the rest of your life I imagine would be a nightmare.

Great read and sounds like he's happy. It's amazing what one person's actions can do to a number of people.

Nice read. Thanks for posting.

I didn't realize DJ was a grad assistant coach. I assumed he was full-time status. I feel for him because he "lost" a brother and he'll forever be linked to his brothers poor decisions.

It sounds like he is moving forward in life. And you have to. And stepping away from football probably helped him start down the path of continuing to move forward.

He got blackballed from coaching. No one would give him an opportunity because of his brother.

The article says that he doesn't want to coach again. He didn't like the person he was when he was coaching. He immersed himself in it too much.

The facts of the article and what is going on with his life and how it changed him and his connection to Iowa was very interesting.

The article itself was dog crap. What a disorganized and discombobulated Mess.

I don't understand why some authors try and be so artsy or quirky. I'm not even sure what the word is. Pathetic read.

Just tell the damn story

I hear you. As a former journalist, I understand what the author was trying to do but I'm simply not a fan of the jumping around on timelines... Too much story telling... I thought the information was good ... It was just drawn out ...

That's an interesting story.. I remember when all that stuff started I couldn't help but feel bad for DJ (Jonathan) and how something he had nothing to do with has completely changed his life. It's crazy how every program had turned away from him bc they don't want to risk the negative publicity.. I would think people could differentiate him and his brother and understand you can still love your brother while not condoning terrible acts and being ashamed of him
