Iowa 12-6 (3-4) Rest of the way predictions

I said 8-12 in league play before the season started, so right there with you.
And despite the debacle last night against wisky they will win again.

Fran's worst team in last 10 years or so only won 8 conference games? I'm thinking of Jbo Freshman year, total rebuild. Fran has a way winning more games than you might expect. I'm still thinking 10-10 in conference play, but I have no idea how the wins are distributed. I do think it is getting harder for Fran to achieve 0.500. . He used to be able to count on a lot of easy wins vs Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers, Minnesota, and Northwestern. Those bottom feeders have improved over the years.

JBo's freshman year may have been Frans best coaching job. 10 Big ten wins and a Minnesota shit call from making NCAA tournament. Of course it's the usual egg laying in the first round of BTT as a higher seed.
The next year was terrible with four Big Ten wins.

Everyone seems to improve when you’re looking up at them.

Thanks for correction. I see JBO Freshman year was 10-8 in conference and NIT. The next year was Fran's worse year 4 - 14 in B1G play.

NIT

Watching Harding is painful.
Why, because he plays with fire, distributes the ball and plays incredibly hard. You are a clown. Watching the Sandforts is painful, especially Peyton who shoots us out of most games and is just a spot up guy who is terrible on defense. Pryce is easily the worst defender we have. We suck at defense every year because we religiously have slow, athletically limited guys playing big minutes who can’t play one on one defense nor effective zone, again because they are not athletic enough to execute the plan. Harding is the least of our problems.

The hard truth is that you could bring in thousands of undersized mid major recruits who would "play with fire, distribute the ball, and play incredibly hard."

But that doesn't mean they would be effective at this level.

This is a shitty conversation that I don't like having because it's not Harding's fault that he has a scholarship at the University of Iowa. And he's unquestionably a great kid and a great competitor.

Let's see, for the remaining schedule I see ....

5-3/6-2/7-1 at home.

0-7 on the road, while giving up season highs of pts scored/3pt% & rebounds allowed to the vast majority of them.

8-12/17-15, 9-11/18-14 or 10-10/19-13 final record.

Might be enough for an NCAA bid if get to 9-11, but only worthy of an NIT one instead.

If they win zero road games I think that's an automatic disqualifier. Why invite a team that hasn't shown it can face any sort of adversity?

Going to have to win on the road with Wisconsin, Oregon, Purdue coming to CHA. Find me road wins.

Fran teams usually steal a few road games. I guess Fran's strategy of not playing any true road games in preseason didn't get them ready for B1G road games.

I am sticking with 10-10, but I think Fran has to give up on starting 4 guards, or what he call's guards. We're getting killed on boards, getting killed on dribble drive/paint baskets, and giving up open 3s. Right now, the only chance they have is the other team is having a Brick night from 3pt line and missing wide open 3's in what is essentially a game of Horse for opponents.

I would do
Thelwell PG with Harding backup
Dix 2G with Pryce backup
Sandforts "3"
Dimbele/Traore/Tadjo PF
Freeman/Mulvey/Dimbele C

For the 1 millionth time.... Fran doesn't give a sh*t about defense and rebounding. Defense is just then end of the court you are required to run to, when you aren't on offense.

So sick of Fran coached teams

Fran will be loyal to Harding as a starter even if Iowa lost out.

Here is my prediction on how the remaining 24 regular season games shake out....

Last year I predicted 15-16 (7-13) and they finished at 18-13 (10-10)

IA-BB-Picks.jpg
I think they finish 11 and 9. Make it into the sweet 16 for his first time ever, and then Fran heads out East. He has never been so calm on the bench so something's up. I know it seems crazy but it would be totally in Iowa thing to do to make this week 16 this year of all years.

He hasn't had one of the boys on the team for quite awhile. I think he's feeling no pressure, unlike he did when he first came to Iowa and unlike he did when the boys played here. I'm a believer he's gone next season but he's bringing in some interesting talent, that's what I hoped for when the boys left.
