Will 4th Place in the Big Ten East sit well with the Michigan fan base?

Initial Power Rankings:

1 Ohio St
2 Wisconsin
3 Penn State
4 Michigan State
5 Michigan
6 Northwestern
7 IOWA
8 Nebraska
9 Maryland
10 Purdue
11 Minnesota
12 Indiana
13 Rutgers
14 Illinois

-----------------------

7. Iowa (8-5): It seems like you can always count on Kirk Ferentz to lead the Hawkeyes to seven or eight wins each year. They’re the paradigm of consistency. Iowa’s schedule is set up well this year — it avoids both Ohio State and Michigan. But then again, that might not even matter — Ferentz led the Hawkeyes to a win over both in the past two seasons.

-------------------------

5. Michigan (8-5): The Wolverines have a stacked defense and some talented young playmakers on offense. Jim Harbaugh still has to find his quarterback — and then keep him upright and uninjured. He might have accomplished the former by bringing in Shea Patterson. It remains to be seen whether the latter can be accomplished, though the right things have been said about new offensive line coach Ed Warinner.

7 doesn't bother me. However, I don't understand ranking Iowa below Northwestern. They lose their stud RB and their QB is coming off a MAJOR injury. I'm expecting this to be a below average year for Northwestern.

That list is mostly just a re-hash of last year’s results. It is no better than any other pre-season prognosticators total guess.

We absolutely must beat jNW and Purdue. Hoping that we get Wisky at night in Kinnick at the end of September. I like our track record in those Top 5 games.

I really hope that we are as “up” for the NIU game as the Huskies will be. You know they are counting down the days to their chance at picking us off. Our engine usually isn’t hitting on all cylinders early in the year.

kceasthawk, I would think you would want a rematch against Ohio State, to prove it wasn't a fluke last year..haha. No way Harblow's boys beat us in Columbus...

I agree OSU will have any issues they may have figured out by the time they play Michigan and Harbaugh will continue his winless streak against them

Buck, Id be fine playing OSU as well, just down with whatever gets the Hawks in the game. I'll take our chances with whomever if we get there. Like they say in the Lottery,"You can't win if you don't play!" :)

Like I said before..we are tired of beating Wisconsin, bring some different competition. If it wasn't for a hobbled JT Barrett, that 27-21 score would've been a lot worse. That game and the loss to you guys is what kept us out of the playoffs, but no use in crying over spilled milk, it's a new season and hopefully we have a great season and Iowa has a great season as well and we meet in Indy for all the BIG marbles..Good Luck Hawks and see you in December!!
