IOWA a #2 Seed, Illinois & Michigan a 1 in Latest (March14) ESPN Bracketology. Jerry Palm: Iowa a 2. Mike DeCoursy: Iowa a 2. Bracket Matrix: Iowa a 2

January 22 UPDATE:

Bracket Matrix
, which combines MANY bracketologists, has Iowa right now as I type a #1 seed & FOURTH best overall team. Check that out here: http://www.bracketmatrix.com/

According to Joe Lunardi, ESPN:

For those wondering about OK State:
They received a one-year postseason ban by the NCAA infractions committee. The Cowboys appealed, and the NCAA has confirmed that OK State is eligible while the appeal is undecided. That is why many bracketologists are including OK State in their bracket because we are now close enough where a no-decision seems feasible.

Important Dates:

March 15:
The Bracket will be announced (Selection Sunday)

April 5: The NCAA Tournament will conclude

NOTE: All games are expected to be bubbled in Indianapolis/the Indianapolis area. The primary adjustment from a normal year is, of course, the playing of the entire NCAA tournament at a single site. There is no need to bracket any team away from a regional or subregional it is hosting, or attempt to give teams geographic priority based on their position on the seed list.

10 B1G teams are in, per Joe Lunardi:

REGION 1 (Was the West Region in Denver; Gonzaga is #1 seed)

04 Illinois
11 Michigan State (Bubble: Last 4 In)
02 Wisconsin

REGION 4 (Was the Midwest Region in Minneapolis; Villanova is #1 seed)

05 Minnesota
07 Purdue

REGION 2 (Was the South Region in Memphis; Baylor is #1 seed)

04 Ohio State
02 IOWA

REGION 3 (Was the East Region in Brooklyn; Michigan is #1 seed)

01 Michigan
11 Rutgers (Bubble: Last 4 byes) (@MrsScrew )
10 Indiana (Bubble: Last 4 byes)

...................................................

OTHERS:

Maryland--First 4 OUT

Drake--a 10 seed in Region 4.
Virginia Tech (Cordell Pemsl)-- a 7 seed in Region 3.
Duke!!! -- NEXT 4 OUT!!! @Hawksfor3

----------By the way, the last time Duke did not make the NCAA Tournament? 1995 (26 freakin' years ago).

@Franisdaman if Rutgers continues it's downward spiral we're not going to be invited to the local schoolyard for a pickup game, let alone the tourney. I wish I knew, or someone way more connected to the team knew, what was going on with them and how to fix it

Man those have to interesting games too. I mean who do you root for? It would be like the Longest Yard right? The Felons against the dirty cheating prison guards.......Hard to tell them apart.....
The FBI investigation showed how dirty college basketball is; and so far, only assistant coaches have taken the fall; the head coaches knew nothing (Bill Self at Kansas, Sean Miller at Arizona, Bruce Pearl at Auburn, Brad Underwood at Oklahoma State, etc,) !!!

Who would we least like to see as a 2nd round matchup? So maybe teams currently between 5-12 seeds that could end up as a 7 through 10 seed? I would say Xavier, Oklahoma, UNC, Texas Tech, Drake, MSU would all be less than ideal in my mind.

Mike's Jan 25 Bracket (IOWA still a 2 seed)

For those asking about OK State, Mike Decourcy wrote this: "They received a one-year postseason ban by NCAA infractions committee. Cowboys appealed, and NCAA confirmed they are eligible while appeal is undecided. Before including them, I waited until we were close enough that a no-decision seemed feasible."

A #3 seed of better would be fine by me. I just want a sweet 16 run. Beyond that is Gravy.

The ship has sailed on the B1G championship.

6 teams, including Iowa, are currently projected to win 12 conference games on Kenpom. This is far from over. Which team can play the best down the stretch? Michigan has the edge at this point but it’s a very fluid situation.

is Michigan still the KenPom favorite? How many wins does KenPom project for Michigan?

Decourcy has Duke still IN the tournament with a 7-6 record? I always thought the selections were based on this year's performance. Their best win so far is probably Clemson, who are actually behind them in the ACC. Michigan St. beat them by 6 at Durham earlier this season. Of course the majority of the ACC looks pretty mediocre this year, so maybe Decourcy is projecting Duke to chew up the likes of BC, WF, NC St., ND, etc. and get up to a dozen wins or so.

I agree that Iowa could still win the B1G, but I'm adjusting my expectations based off how they've played lately and the edge that Michigan has.

I HOPE they win every remaining B1G game and win the conference, but I'm not expecting that.

Players/coaches in the Iowa Program absolutely should expect to win every remaining game and find a way to win the B1G.

41 years since last Final 4

My expectations really haven’t changed much since the start of the year. Top 4 finish in the B1G and a Sweet 16 appearance. We knew this team’s defensive limitations coming in to the season.
