Looking for suggestions on where to stay in Twin Cities for the football game on October 6.
Yep, do the light rail thing. You can find many places to stay overnight that are fairly priced. Then go to the Mall of America in the morning. Not sure if you are bringing kids, but they would love Nicklodean Universe.
Plan on about 40 minutes on the rail. You will see hawkeye and gopher fans getting on the rail. You can just take it all in. On a sunny day, it's just beautiful. Then when you come back, you can get out of dodge fairly quickly.
If you never done the mall and light rail thing, try it.

But it will the fifth week of the season so...mainly Iowa fans
You'll be 3-2, pissing about Kirk, and very nervous for this game. I haven't seen as many Iowa fans coming up here lately. Mediocrity wears on you.

Well, maybe someday Minnesota will get to mediocrity.
3-2? Ha! I'll take that bet. What's your wager? A slightly used rowboat? Although I will concede it is actually possible to lose to ISU (Rivalry) and Wisconsin (Rivalry).
I'd be more worried about finding a quarterback than shooting your mouth off on another teams board.

Funny because your own fans haven't been showing up for games in your own stadium as well. A nice 44K avg last year with a high mark of just over 47K vs MSU last year. Also 2016 the last time Iowa played up at TCF Bank Stadium it was the highest attended home game of the year for the goofers at a whopping 49,145 when ironically Iowa was 3-2 coming into that game. So there goes your argument there. But nice try....
What other stadiums have fans in them in MN on Saturday with a bigger population. Iowa has Iowa(70K capacity)ISU(60K capacity) UNI(15 K Capacity). You have Minnesota (50K capacity) that's it. For so many more people in MN you can't even get 50K. That's about 1/3 of capacity for Iowa's state schools. What does that have to do with not as many iowa fans coming to the cities anymore?
Hell, you can't even sell out Kinnick and it's your only sporting events in the state.
Did you get hammered that weekend also?We always stay near the MOA and take the train up. Very convenient and most of the hotels near the mall have shuttles on the hour.
Always had a pretty good time in Minneapolis, except a couple of years ago when Iowa got hammered.
What does that have to do with not as many iowa fans coming to the cities anymore?

Dude, you're setting yourself up for an easy one there. People in half empty houses, with twice the population and no other D1 teams shouldn't stones
You're great and we aren't.
We have 4 pro teams right next door and you can only outdraw us by 20,000!
It can only mean one thing and that's Iowa football is mediocre.
You don't even sell out and there is nothing else in the state! NOTHING!
Except another team that plays like 3 hours away on the exact same days often at the same time........
oh, now Iowa State exists.
We have 60,000 in the same state the next day for the vikings. You won't find many spending on both.
Think it through buddy.
You don't sell out! LMAO
You're great and we aren't.
You got that much right.
We have 4 pro teams right next door and you can only outdraw us by 20,000!
Only 20,000, yeah that's barely noticable. LOL!!!!!!
If you're going to use a tired old argument (we have pro teams and there's so much more to do here) make it one that hasn't been proven to be total bullshit.
-MLB fans have about as much overlap with college football fans as...well, none.
-The Timberwolves are one of the most pathetic franchises in the NBA, even with their young core of talent. They're not stealing any fans from the Lynx, much less Gopher football.
-By the time the NHL starts, the Gophers already have 4 losses...again, no real overlap.
Now, the Vikings are another story. MInneapolis is definitely a Vikings town. But with as many bodies within an hour of both stadiums as the entire population of Iowa...there's plenty of potential ticket buyers for both. (even though, I'd suggest again...pro fans and college fans are largely a different group).
FYI, many Hawkeye fans come from Chicago, Minneapolis and the surrounding region. Same is true at other schools. At places like IOWA, WIsconsin, Penn St, Notre Dame, Ohio St, Nebraska (yeah, even Nebraska) fans don't come to campus on Fall Saturdays because there's "nothing better to do". They come because of their love of and passion for their team. Something which you simply don't have in Gopherland...whatever your excuse. Be proud that you're one of the hard cores in a very thin fan base. Or at least hard core enough to linger on your rival's message boards. But stop rationalizing "meh".
People in Minnesota are doing the same things on a Fall Saturday as any other Midwestern state. They mow the lawn, go for a run, ride their Harley, garage sale, go fishing, attend kid's soccer or pee wee football, hit their favorite brew pub for an IPA. And if Minnesota football was popular and successful..thousands of them would be revving up for the Gopher game. But it ain't and they aren't. That's about it, bra

(The IOWA jokes stopped bugging me the first time I realized people in Minnesota take ice fishing seriously and that they elected Jesse Ventura governor. Some punch lines write themselves)

The University of Minnesota claims undergraduate enrollment above 51,000 students and an additional 600,000+ University of Minnesota alumni within 50 miles of campus. There are a ridiculous surplus of students and alumni within a short walk or drive, they just don't care...… and who could blame them?We have 60,000 in the same state the next day for the vikings. You won't find many spending on both.

You can be a goopher and a viqueen. There is no such thing as a clown/ hawk. Think it through goldie.
I did think it through. Many Viking fans would be 100% gopher fans if it were the only game in town.
You are drunk, sir!
Your response was "you wont find many spending on both" to which I responded you wont find any iowan spending money on Iowa and ISU. Sorry old rolled gold, your town is a hockey town and pJ fleck is a clown.I did think it through. Many Viking fans would be 100% gopher fans if it were the only game in town.

So there’s only enough football teams in the Twin Cities to fill one stadium? You may be the drunk one.
These are the same guys shooting their mouths off about Iowa basketball regional powerhouses and the usual you were contending for the west title last year(4-5). Let me guess, you are an expert on greatness. bwahbwahbwahbwahbwah
Hey, maybe if we find that special qb we can get all the way to 4-5 also!
You people are hilarious.
