Iowa opens a 44 game conference schedule in Texas this weekend with a four game series vs Michigan. Games are March 6th at 6pm, March 7th DH at 2pm/6pm, and March 8th at 11am. My understanding is the doubleheader will be one seven inning and one nine inning game. I do think the conference’s scheduling and rules for baseball and softball are huge mistakes.

Michigan is pretty green, as they lost a lot from last years lost season team. Their pitching will be led by Walker Cleveland and Blake Beers. Both are pretty solid.

Iowa is green as well as far as a proven rotation goes. We will see what happens. The Covid lay-off May hurt then as well.

Iowa sucking at baseball?

BAU......

Am I reading the schedule right - we play Nebraska 5 times? Two in Mpls and three in IC?
5 times over 2 CONSECUTIVE weekends

note the first pitch times; how does 9 am sound???

its one funky schedule; I see that one weekend Maryland & Northwestern are in Iowa City but we only play Northwestern...for now, at least

Each Thursday I am going here for the most recent times, TV, etc: https://hawkeyesports.com/sports/baseball/schedule/

Rutgers up on Minny 5-1 in the 4th

Love BTN Plus!!!

Also, playing in US Bank Stadium sucks; hope Iowa doesn't get sent there next weekend

Iowa falls 4-2 in game one. I think we all knew coming into this series that Michigan was favored. Iowa just couldn’t string together hits or extra base hits in a timely fashion. Wallace battled, but 95 pitches in five innings did him in. He is right at that 2-1 K:BB ration, but I’d like to see four walks in five innings cut down to one or none.

Hajjar for Michigan is a top 50 draft prospect, so Iowa did eventually get him out of there, but until the 7th. I don’t know how they do it, but Michigan is becoming a top 100 draft pick factory for pitching over the last few years.

So three more against Michigan, then two against tOSU next weekend and the “top heavy” portion of the schedule is out of the way.

I definitely think the games are at US Bank. Iowa will have the advantage of having played there before with how it’s setup.

Game two is starting bad, very bad. Baumann appears to be struggling once again similar to last year. I was afraid of this.
