Interesting enough if you take away the horrible loss to Nebraska- Omaha Iowa's 4 losses have s combined 31-6 record. Virginia, Seton Hall, Memphis, Notre Dame .

I will go ahead and guess that at least 3 of these 4 will end up in the NCAA.

My point? I think Iowa has played better than their record would indicate and if they can scratch out 20 wins this year it would be a travesty not to make the NCAA tourney.

I believe Iowa can certainly win out in their non-conference and go 8-5 schedule and if they can continue to improve and finish 12-6 in the Big Ten I see them finishing in the top 5 and almost a certain berth in the tourney .

There are way to many gloomy Gus's on this board already shuffling us to the NIT .

Iowa will need 5 road wins and 7 home wins so it's not impossible.
They could also possibly go 11-7 or 10-8 and still have a shot with a few tournament wins.

20 wins as a number means absolutely nothing to the tournament selection committee. RPI, who you scheduled in the non-con and beat, wins against the RPI top 50, bad losses, etc. are all metrics that mean much more when factoring in the all important tournament resume.

It's PARAMOUNT that we beat UNI, win the remaining non-cons, go at least 11-7 in the B1G upsetting an Indiana, Wisconsin or Purdue (best B1G RPI teams) in the process and win a game or two in the B1G tourney. Doing these things may total 20 wins but it's the overall resume that counts the most behind the wins not the pure number.

Our current RPI is no where needs to be for us to make the big dance and it will need to end up sub 70 to have any shot. We have 1 bad loss in Omaha to overcome as well.

Could it be done? Yes. Realistic probably not. Zero margin for error with a lot of work to do.

Finish in the top 4 of the conference and it's a lock regardless of RPI. Go look ... I bet you in the last 10 years no top 4 big ten teams were ever left out

This right here. We are absolutely on the thinnest of ice. We're going to need 2-3 upsets in B1G play, because we need to account that with a team of freshman, a team like Rutgers, Penn State, or Nebraska will probably "upset" us.

I don't see us making the tournament. Beating ISU was great, don't get me wrong, but it's a far cry from getting us right back on track to tourney time.

Stranger things have happened, though!

RPI is meaningless at this point in the year. I would be willing to bet there are power five teams every year who are ranked in the 100s of the RPI in the non-con and still make the tourney.
