total BS
Hopefully they have something better next year.

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa High School Sports Network and the Iowa High School Athletic Association announced that their nearly 20-year media rights deal will come to an end.

In 2023, the Iowa High School Sports Network (IHSSN) announced changes to its model that charged the public to watch certain live events. The IHSSN is the media rights holder for select championship events for the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA). The IHSAA objected to these changes, and filed a petition in Polk County District Court to prevent it.

On Tuesday the IHSSN and IHSAA announced they’ve reached a resolution that would make livestreaming for finals round free to the public through the rest of the 2024-2025 athletic year, and would end their nearly 20-year media rights agreement.

there is no reason they cannot sell enough advertising to make the games free

It's greedy BS and the schools and kids playing are the ones that get hurt by not allowing more people watch them play

Anthony Galvin going off for CF in the first half. Six triples and 21 points. CF up 43-19.

Des Moines metro schools always win everything in all sports the last 20 years or so right?

Seems like it anyway
It seems that way although CF won back to back titles in men’s basketball a few-ish years ago, had a good run in volleyball winning a couple state titles, should have beaten Dowling for the championship Jack Campbell’s senior year in football, and who can forget our men’s and women’s rugby state championships??? I now that’s a non sanctioned sport but my son played as well as my nieces so it’s a very subtle brag. Your point stands however, Des Moines Metro dominates sports in the large classes.

Anyone have a scouting report on Waukee NW?

A-D-M defeated Storm Lake 59-53. They'll face Clear Lake in the Semies.

Btw, here's a thought experiment. In the last 5 recruiting classes, how many of Iowa's recruits were on teams that won a State title?

How many of them were in-state? (i.e. won a state title in Iowa)

From this year's media guide:
Payton 'led Waukee High School to a State championship as a senior… led team to a conference and substate championship, and State tournament runner-up finish as a junior, member of the Waukee 2018 and 2019 conference and substate championship team that also placed third at the Iowa State tournament both seasons '

Kingsbury 'team member of Ponca High School’s state championship teams as a freshman (2017) and sophomore (2018) and third place team as a junior (2019)…'

Dembele 'helped St. Benedict’s Prep, ranked No. 6 nationally by MaxPreps, to a 25-1 record and a State Prep A championship last season'

Freeman 'helped Moline to an unbeaten run to a WB6 outright title and a state championship'

Harding 'led Moline to its first ever state championship, finishing with a 35-3 overall record…'

Pryce S 'led Waukee Northwest to the Class 4A State Championship game, helped Waukee to the state championship in 2021 as a sophomore'

So 6 won state titles, 2 in Iowa.

Big schools didn’t like playing Wed-Fri would be my guess. When they got rid of the consolation games/Saturday championship games, it compacted the large school schedule to 3 days.
It's kinda funny though that assuming that was a factor, that the Association would be like, well then I guess we'll punish the small schools with playing 3 games in 3 days instead...........................

Sadly, it ain’t the 1970’s any more. Folks used to think nothing of the fact that there was NPR and PBS that were tax payer supported organizations… now both are regarded as pariahs and affronts to private enterprise… well, perhaps these same folks are getting their wish regarding high school sports….if you want them, you have to pay for’em.
