Iowa Commit Ben VanSumeren offered by Michigan

Looks like the U of M already has 2 4 star linebackers and 2 3 & 4 Star TEs, wonder why they would like another TE?

Harbaugh's honey moon period is over....this happens all the time. Right now it is the Fleck and Campbell boner fest, Frost is newly added to the boner fest. After actually results things will be back to complaining and misery. Hell there are OSU fans who want to get rid of Meyer, like are you freaking kidding me! Every fan base wants a new shiney toy and when that toy is no longer new....they want another one.

VanSumeren says he’s solidly committed to Iowa despite UM offer. Hopefully stays that way. Iowa wants him as a LB and UM wants him at TE.

That is weird they want him at TE when they have others committed. Also, interesting because I think I remember reading awhile ago, he liked playing TE.

Did anybody else see him rep 225 21 times in the bench- that is incredible. (I also believe bench is one of the most meaningless lifts, however; it certainly shows strength, commitment and work ethic

FB would be an egregious waste of talent!

Don't talk about fullbacks like that.

But seriously, I think the kid would be a beast as an H-back type. Lined up outside the tackle or motioning to the backfield; blocking inside and out, running the ball occasionally, catching the ball in the flat, slipping backside on PA bootlegs. I love how Auburn and Ole Miss use their H-backs like that, kid seems like he's athletic enough and could handle it. Anyway, just random thoughts, I guess, but he seems like the prototypical guy for that mold. Maybe he could be used more like that if Michigan tailors their offense to fit Shea Patterson a little better.

From a Michigan Fan

If he's smart he sticks with iowa, Why go to a school who only offered because we missed on 2 targets.

He will receive better coaching with ferentz.

Hell don't tell some of these guys that they hate our coach... now to be fair that's not any different than every fan base in America, it's quite a phenomenon really. Now as far as Jimmy H he's a decent coach but he's like pretty much every coach in sports there are ups and downs.

Urban is one of the elite coaches and quite frankly his fans were up in arms over him losing to Oklahoma & Iowa this year wanted his whole staff fired..fans are idiots!

Absolutely insane isn't it...I would be embarrassed to be counted in that number

My 30,000 feet view says it is a good thing when Alabama, LSU and Michigan are interested in Iowa's commits. Even if they are those schools second choices.

And seems to be happening more & more. But more importantly than that, we appear to be keeping most of them.

And as is my "MO" at the end of the year we will still Rank inthe 40th to 50th range and everyone ,excuse me, those fans, not you Johnson, but those fans will complain about how bad our recruiting sucks.

Drilling down on this...it an interesting case study… It's telling me the competition for recruits even at these top tier elite institutions is getting more and more difficult and they are also beginning to see top-notch talent further down the list outside of the top 300.

Sure it may be a fallback recruit but at the same point in time these guys aren't going to offer someone they think "can't" compete and I have a hard time believing they couldn't even find other four stars, but the are really drilling down on what they "need" and who fits that need.

Just my observation

Ya, I saw it on twitter. I'm thinking Doyle can't wait to get his hands on this kid if he does in fact sign with Iowa

while the kid is obviously spending a lot of time in the weight room and is further along than most HS players, those 'reps' were hardly legitimate reps, his arms barely extended beyond 90 degrees. his highlight tapes are impressive though...suspect this kid will battle for PT right away on special teams and with 3 spots open at LB, there might be an opportunity for a freshman like BVS to earn PT on defense too. Very happy he is set to sign with Iowa, seems like a perfect fit for our defense and culture.
