Sadly, it's better in the long run if they lose the next 2 games. Michigan State should win by 20 and we all know how Iowa has looked on the road all year.
Personally to be honest, at this point it doesn't matter. It's not a question of whether Fran is gone, it's when will Beth announce it. Good luck to the players, but I'm beyond exhaustion of Fran. Well into stubbornly can't imagine Fran being back. What the team does at this point does not matter. If they win the B1G tournament, then we can talk, maybe. That would mean he actually starts coaching defense or something radical to save his job.

Just curious why so many people here are so certain about that? I certainly think he should be gone, but I personally don't feel confident that it will happen. Even if it's a friend of a friend who empties trash cans in the athletic office type rumor, that would give me some hope, lol. But so far I haven't read anything beyond simply saying he's gone, trust me.
I have been saying all along he will be back next year. I could be wrong, but we’ll see.
I do think McCollum will be leaving Drake. So….by retaining Fran Iowa will have missed out on both DeVries and McCollum in successive years. Not sure many Hawk fans will be happy about that.
We will find out shortly how much the University cares about the men’s basketball program.
Agreed. I remember hearing rumors last year that Fran was gone after the year was over and so on. Didn't happen, obviously. Only difference is that this year there seem to be more people saying it.
The only thing, that can save Fran is performance in March and we probably won’t even be playing in our own conference tournament, so that’s not good.
You don’t think McCollum is not in other school’s radar?
Kudos to Drake for being the ones who seemingly know how to find “unknowns” and make them “well knows”….Medved, DeVries and now McCollum.

Not a prediction. More of being soo sick of the same shit every year. Heard all the excuses. Has had talented teams, not so talented and everything in between, same story. Not a prediction just absolute exhaustion of Fran, and can’t imagine having to go through all of this again.
Of course he is if other ADs are doing their job. Probably not sexy enough of a hire for Indiana to sell to their fanbase however which helps us. McCollum was probably an "unknown" for people that don't follow very closely. For people in the CBB world, McCollum has been well known for some time now.

Sounds like Fran isn't retiring.
Seems highly doubtful this group of Hawks can with either game to close the season.
There should be some fireworks in spring as we are likely to lose Dix and Freeman. Total rebuild next year with no guards and Fran in charge. Doesn't look promising.

As I have been saying…we are going to find out very soon how important the men’s basketball team is to the University.
