May have missed the point on that one. The winningest stretch was because of the defense and special teams starting in 2021. They carried Brian Ferentz. Literally put him on their shoulders. They deserved so much more from Kirk and Brian. It was so sad to watch.

Brian had to report to Barta to get around Nepotism rules. Beth wouldn't agree to hiring CMAC when Papa is on the chopping block.

One thing is clear is Fran is extreme family man and grooves on coaching his boys and making sure they get PT. I think Fran likely ends up at a midmajor and Jack transfers in. Jack supposedly plans to Redshirty hia Freshman year, so Butler is just a placeholder and Fran can coach at Iowa for another year.
According to Eyes, the defensive regression was the result of the defense not getting enough emphasis because the offense was receiving too much. Wouldn't have anything to do with the fact the defense really wasn't that good. The three defensive players that were the slowest in their groups at the combine would have been quicker if they just got more emphasis in practice during their 5th or 6th years.

No other OC would Kirk have gone along for that stipulation let alone keep. Only reason he was back for 23’ was a spineless AD that wouldn’t tell KF to fire him and a dad putting his son ahead of programs best interest. Every analyst, announcer, former coach, media National/local said he needed to go. they and we all have eyes and saw how bad it was.

For all we know, Goetz wanted to fire BF outright but his dad freaked out and threatened to walk too. She isn't to blame for how the whole debacle unfolded, the Ferentzes are.
Her actions will determine the reality of the situation.
A legitimate AD doing what's best for the basketball program does not retain Fran.
A figure head hired for appearances by people who don't care about basketball may retain Fran.
It certainly wasn’t due to BF and that historically bad offense. KF is lucky Phil was bailing him out.,
So to leave an unqualified coach to remain in that position despite terrible results screams that he did indeed place Brian there in hopes he would succeed . All part of the master plan to plant Brian as HC after the old man calls it quits.,

Let’s just say Fran stays and Matta is gone. Not unrealistic. Would Beth really shut down Fran trying to bring Connor on the staff in some capacity? It’s different from football. You can absolutely point to Brian Ferentz and say he’s objectively one of the worst coordinators in Power 5 football history. It’s not so easy with basketball.

As they say, your best job security and (worth as an employee) is what you demand on the open market. I’d say Locksley basically saying he felt sorry for Brian and hired him as an analyst, (and obviously as a favor to Kirk) is about as low as you can go on the open market.
Well he got a job as TE coach at San Jose St. I think that'll be his ceiling, at least for awhile.
I suspect more favors will be extended as well….
Also, I was led to believe last year that NFL coaches were drooling at the thought of BF becoming ‘available’ for their position coach openings….lol
Success is measured by the product you produce - worst qb in all of college football one year and bottom 5 in offense consistently. There you go, the measuring stick and it is objective and non bias. Boy Wonder sucked.
