May have missed the point on that one. The winningest stretch was because of the defense and special teams starting in 2021. They carried Brian Ferentz. Literally put him on their shoulders. They deserved so much more from Kirk and Brian. It was so sad to watch.Good. Then they witnessed the winningest six year stretch for KF at Iowa from '18-'23.

I heard you the first time.May have missed the point on that one. The winningest stretch was because of the defense and special teams starting in 2021. They carried Brian Ferentz. Literally put him on their shoulders. They deserved so much more from Kirk and Brian. It was so sad to watch.
I can. 🙋♂️I heard you the first time.
And I've heard that laughable narrative many times.
Whether who carried who, how can anyone say KF put a thing ahead of his team during his winningest stretch?
There is no proof that KF put his family above the program.
To leap to that judgement lacks respect
Fran won’t be here … so there’s that …Should we be concerned about how bad Butler is right now? If Thad Matta gets fired and his staff is let go, would Fran hang around just to bring Connor back on his staff? Normally, a coach wouldn’t make that move but all Iowa fans know, having lived through the Brian Ferentz fiasco, that rationality can go out the window with family being involved.
Lately I've seen some really bad trolling. It's like people aren't even trying. But this post is really good trolling. How many people quoted this? Congrats on the successful troll. There is no proof that KF put his family above the program.

Outstanding! You are as talented a Troll as you are a gambler.Good. Then they witnessed the winningest six year stretch for KF at Iowa from '18-'23.

I mean Fran obviously set Connor up and probably hoped things would work out with Butler and Thad and they haven’t. So you either have to find him a new place or worst case, for a lot of reasons, bring him back as an assistant.
It’s almost like there’s something in football called defense. And from my understanding it’s like where you stop the other team from scoring. Well, Iowa had its worst defense in a long time this past season even though it had a much improved offense. Almost like you shouldn’t be wasting generational defenses in 2022 and 2023 with an offensive genius like Brian Ferentz?!? 🤔😊
Isn't he the guy that literally lost money on a bet but said that even though he did in fact lose that money, in reality he somehow still won the bet?Troll is a cood call.
He ain't dumb because he is a quality gambler.

That makes it even worse as qb play some how got got worse not better. The fact that Iowa was a national joke with the drive for 325 in justification of bringing him back says it all. No other OC would Kirk have gone along for that stipulation let alone keep. Only reason he was back for 23’ was a spineless AD that wouldn’t tell KF to fire him and a dad putting his son ahead of programs best interest. Every analyst, announcer, former coach, media National/local said he needed to go. they and we all have eyes and saw how bad it was.Really poor characterization of what happened.
And not even factually correct. BF was QB coach before '23.
Judging BF, as an OC, based on '22 and '23 makes absolutely no sense. First of all, you don't judge someone at their worst. But the main problems in those two seasons had very little to do with BF. The problem in '22 was having the worst O-line I've ever seen at Iowa. The problem in '23 was most of the season was played with the worst QB I've ever seen play significant snaps at Iowa. And the line was still pretty poor.
Iowa averaged 9 wins those seasons. And I'm guessing KF was well aware that the main problems on offense had very little to do with BF. But you guys have your nepotism narrative to maintain.
If KF ever put anything ahead of his team, he sure had a weird way of showing it, because '18-'23 was his winningest six year stretch at Iowa
Sure is. His arrogance knows no bounds.Isn't he the guy that literally lost money on a bet but said that even though he did in fact lose that money, in reality he somehow still won the bet?

Do yourself a favor and just stop posting while you are behind. You continue to embarrass yourself by doubling down on stupid and dying on the Brian Ferentz was a good OC hill.
For all we know, Goetz wanted to fire BF outright but his dad freaked out and threatened to walk too. She isn't to blame for how the whole debacle unfolded, the Ferentzes are.First, everyone kneeling at Beth Goetz's feet need to get real. Getting rid of BF was hardly her call, and the timing (announcement, retaining BF through the season, etc) showed one thing: DEI hire.
FranMac should have been her first firing. Instead, we sit and twiddlebour thumbs as we get to read all the insight from all the Beacon "insiders"...

It certainly wasn’t due to BF and that historically bad offense. KF is lucky Phil was bailing him out.,I heard you the first time.
And I've heard that laughable narrative many times.

I don't care what numbers you are looking at, the QB play in '24 was better than it was in '23 with Hill. PERIOD.an uptick in QB play? lmfao. what was that? the giant leap that CM made? or was it the back up that came in under Lester? Or the walk on that came in under Lester? Or the 131st pass offense that resulted from all three?
Lester made chicken salad out of chicken shit in 2024. Because he is a competent coach. And it will only get better. BF was a failure that should have been fired in 2022. A national joke. He wasn't because his boss was his dad. That is why his superiors had to step in.
stop it.
Never have said BF was a good OCThat makes it even worse as qb play some how got got worse not better. All previously answered in the thread except for the mind-reading partIt certainly wasn’t due to BF and that historically bad offense. KF is lucky Phil was bailing him out.,
So to leave an unqualified coach to remain in that position despite terrible results screams that he did indeed place Brian there in hopes he would succeed . All part of the master plan to plant Brian as HC after the old man calls it quits.,
If you don’t see that you’re a fool. That was the plan!
LOL. Yeah, I'm sure BG gives a flying f*ck about what's going on at Butler and it will greatly impact her decision on Fran after the season. LOL. He gone.Should we be concerned about how bad Butler is right now? If Thad Matta gets fired and his staff is let go, would Fran hang around just to bring Connor back on his staff? Normally, a coach wouldn’t make that move but all Iowa fans know, having lived through the Brian Ferentz fiasco, that rationality can go out the window with family being involved.
Let’s just say Fran stays and Matta is gone. Not unrealistic. Would Beth really shut down Fran trying to bring Connor on the staff in some capacity? It’s different from football. You can absolutely point to Brian Ferentz and say he’s objectively one of the worst coordinators in Power 5 football history. It’s not so easy with basketball.LOL. Yeah, I'm sure BG gives a flying f*ck about what's going on at Butler and it will greatly impact her decision on Fran after the season. LOL. He gone.
Well then that would explain all of these schools bidding on him to be their OC.Was plenty qualified
Valid question, but IMHO Matta getting fired is the least of our concerns right now…Should we be concerned about how bad Butler is right now? If Thad Matta gets fired and his staff is let go, would Fran hang around just to bring Connor back on his staff? Normally, a coach wouldn’t make that move but all Iowa fans know, having lived through the Brian Ferentz fiasco, that rationality can go out the window with family being involved.
As they say, your best job security and (worth as an employee) is what you demand on the open market. I’d say Locksley basically saying he felt sorry for Brian and hired him as an analyst, (and obviously as a favor to Kirk) is about as low as you can go on the open market.Well then that would explain all of these schools bidding on him to be their OC.
Well he got a job as TE coach at San Jose St. I think that'll be his ceiling, at least for awhile. As they say, your best job security and (worth as an employee) is what you demand on the open market. I’d say Locksley basically saying he felt sorry for Brian and hired him as an analyst, (and obviously as a favor to Kirk) is about as low as you can go on the open market.
I suspect more favors will be extended as well….As they say, your best job security and (worth as an employee) is what you demand on the open market. I will sure miss Deacon's feather touch.I don't care what numbers you are looking at, the QB play in '24 was better than it was in '23 with Hill. PERIOD.
Also, you don't think BF or any other OC would have also brought QB's in?
Mary, Mary quite contrary. There is no proof that KF put his family above the program.
To leap to that judgement lacks respect
Care to offer?Mary, Mary quite contrary.
Success is measured by the product you produce - worst qb in all of college football one year and bottom 5 in offense consistently. There you go, the measuring stick and it is objective and non bias. Boy Wonder sucked.Care to offer?
I've yet to find ANY
And how does any of that prove that KF put his family above the program?Success is measured by the product you produce - worst qb in all of college football one year and bottom 5 in offense consistently. There you go, the measuring stick and it is objective and non bias. Boy Wonder sucked.
There are only 2 options - he either put Boy Wonder above the team or Captain Kirk is a total moron for putting him there and KEEPING him there. And how does any of that prove that KF put his family above the program?
No. Responses to that have already been given in the threadThere are only 2 options - he either put Boy Wonder above the team or Captain Kirk is a total moron for putting him there and KEEPING him there.
Fran can bring Connor on his staff for next season, sure. Where do you think Fran will be coaching?Let’s just say Fran stays and Matta is gone. Not unrealistic. Maybe like a LaSalle?!?Fran can bring Connor on his staff for next season, sure. Where do you think Fran will be coaching?
LOL. I'd love to see proof of both of these ridiculous ideas.First, everyone kneeling at Beth Goetz's feet need to get real. Getting rid of BF was hardly her call, and the timing (announcement, retaining BF through the season, etc) showed one thing: DEI hire.
Read better. Not sure where you think I've defended BF.If any of you think Connor will be leaving Indianapolis anytime soon with the cash cow he has at his side, I’ve got some ocean front property in Arizona I’d like to sell you.
And oh yeah, EoH is still an idiot with his rhetoric about his defense of BF. Then to say he was the QB coach before the OC just shows how much of a moran he truly is.
