I have been to China for work numerous times. I wouldn't go there now for any reason.

China isn't paying for this to be charitable and I promise they are not looking for cultural exchange and understanding. So what is their motive? I can also promise it isn't benign.

No. A high school should not be accepting a trip like this and it absolutely is within our state governments interest and power to have an opinion on it.

Since when is China risky to visit? Far from it. In this instance these politicians are defying their own party’s belief in parental rights at school. Can you see that? That has been the point.

Really? I might have some reservations but a trip to China (with adult supervision) has benefits for all involved. I bet other nations (other than China) have done this and yes of course the hosting nation is doing so for propaganda purposes.

There is almost always a benefit to having exposure to different cultures but no American should feel confident traveling to China right now.

Ain't no way China is going to start an international incident with a bunch of high schoolers they paid to have come over. If some little phuck does a bunch of stupid shit and gets put in a Chinese jail for it - that's FAFO, not Chinese tomfoolery.

I am jealous. I was always in the most populated areas. Still not complaining as Shanghai is one of my favorite cities in the world.

I wish I had made it to Shanghai! Friend and I spent 15 days there. Beijing, Xi'an, Zhangjiajie, Yangshao, and Hong Kong.

Camped in a guard tower on the Great Wall one night.

Zhangjiajie didn't seem real
