Pemsl, Cook, and Kriener all play the 4 or 5 and all deserve minutes. Uhl and Wagner also play the 4 or 5 and sometimes appear to deserve minutes. Barring a transfer, all of these players will be back next year. Plus, we are adding to highly rated prospects (Garza and Nunge) both of whom Fran said recently are good enough to play next year. And don't forget Baer who also gets minutes at the 4.

What are we going to do next year? I see several options.

We may have to cut Uhl and Wagner's minutes. That has already happened some this year. They both rebound okay and play good defense sometimes, but their offensive game is behind Pemsl, Cook, and Kriener and wouldn't be surprised if they are behind Garza and Nunge as well.

We could redshirt either Garza or Nunge. I would guess Nunge would be the more likely candidate. Garza has height and a body that no one else on this team possesses.

We could play Baer exclusively at the 3. That would make sense if Moss moves over to the 2. Perhaps Nunge could also play the 3 like Uthoff given his shooting stroke.

All in all, not a bad problem to have. But I hope we find a rotation that works and keeps everyone happy.

I think we know what we have in Uhl and he isn't an important part of the future. I'm not for running a guy out of town and he is a Hawkeye, but I'd put him at the far end of the bench. Work on developing Kriener, Pemsl and Cook. Use Baer and Wagner in the rotation with the bigs.

Recruit more big men.

Ha Ha..seems like that was Fran's plan getting Garza and Nunge. I can see taking best player's available, but Fran needs a plan for next year. After Jok graduates, we are going to have an even bigger hole at guard/wing. Baer isn't good enough shooter/dribble drive guy/quick enough to consistently play 3 in all matchups. Ellingson/Bohannon, neither is good at dribble drive/creating their own shots.

Maishe Daily in my mind is critical next year and Fran seems to be prepping him for a transfer by putting him on deep bench. Dailey is in the mold of Lindsey/Law, two guys that just shut us down.

I have to hand it to Collins of NW, he seems to have better understanding of what is needed to make a complete team on recruiting trail. NW will be ahead of us next year too.

Agree about Daily being crucial next year. Fran needs to find some minutes for him somehow.

Having a bunch of talented bigs is a good problem to have, but we really need an athletic guard who can play on-ball defense and handle the ball. Just when we all were praising Moss, he has looked lost the past few games. Moss and J Bo are keepers, and Ellingson is ok as a 10-12 min guy of the bench, but a an athletic guard with ball skills could make this team really good.

What is Fran's plan for a PG in the future?

I could be wrong but I believe Connor McCaffery is slated to play PG for Iowa. His arrival will give us two underclassmen at that position, plus CWilliams (who is better suited for off guard IMO). With the abundance of young Forwards on the roster, I suspect the next open scholarship will be held for a PG recruit.

Yeah, with all the bigs we have and will have, Fran need to super-protect his scholarships and give one to only a dynamite guard, and no big man unless it is Xavier Foster or someone even better. Actually a good position to be in.

Is Connor playing PG for IC West this year or is Lane?

Has Connor for sure said hes playing BB instead of baseball at Iowa?

Foster is a hs freshman, isn't he.
