Made a 20,000 seat stadium look huge. You just aren't going to draw anyone but friends and family on a cold week night when the host team isn't playing.Man what a joke of a crowd.
The two calls he gave to Penn State in the last 10 seconds were such gifts. Stopping play with 9 seconds left for an uncontested drop ball after it deflected off the PSU chin? A dive and gifted free kick with 6 seconds left off that? He handed them two opportunities he shouldn't have. Eff it. Won anyways.I forgot how much I hate college soccer rules. Thought I was watching NCAA tournament basketball there for a second
Yeah, the drop ball I was willing to give a pass on since the girl took a shot to the head but that last free kick was a joke. That was a flop worthy of the premier league. The two calls he gave to Penn State in the last 10 seconds were such gifts. Noice. In other years, the tie at Virginia would also factor in Iowa’s favor, but the Hoos are down this year.Did not realize until after that match that Penn State was ranked #5 in the NATION. They're only a B1G 3 seed. Which tells you a lot about the conference's depth in women's soccer now, and why the announcers talked about Iowa's three top 20 wins (MSU away, Miss St away, and PSU neutral) and a top 5 win putting them in as a "probably in" NCAA bubble team.
How is FSU looking at #1? What’s their strength if they’re going to do it? Any Achilles heel?Noice. In other years, the tie at Virginia would also factor in Iowa’s favor, but the Hoos are down this year.
Run the table, Hawkeyes!!

Coach Brian is much more an offense first guy verses Coach Mark‘s defense first strategy. Time will tell if we can outscore everybody… So far, so good. How is FSU looking at #1? What’s their strength if they’re going to do it? Any Achilles heel?
Was the best forward in the B1G when healthy, but unfortunately she’s had season ending injuries the last three seasons.Wow! Good for the ladies. In another note, I saw parts of a couple recent games and didn’t see Ingles. She was a budding star a couple of years ago. If memory serves correct she’d be a senior. Figured she’d be one of the top players. Did she get hurt or transfer?
Awesome. Best of luck, Hawks.Hawkeyes host an NCAA Tournament game in Iowa City for the first time in program history. Make all the way up to a 5 seed and host Bucknell. Winner faces the winner of Liberty and the #4 seed (and SEC Tournament Champion) Georgia. We are listed on the bottom half of the bracket here:

Best of luck to your ‘Noles!Awesome. Best of luck, Hawks.
Gotta say I am a bit nervous with both Notre Dame and Pitt in our bracket. It is tough to beat teams multiple times in a year…Best of luck to your ‘Noles!
That is not a nice thing to call young ladies 😉the Hoos are down this year.
Rumor has it the hoes are down as well. That is not a nice thing to call young ladies 😉
Is this game going to be televised? If so, where?Another soccer commit from Pella is Abby Warner, cousin of George Kittle, Henry Krieger-Coble, and Jess Settles.
BTW, anyone buy their tickets for Friday night yet? (Feels weird to have to buy now).

Projected line up?A few Spring updates (with video):
1) Iowa will play in the Spring Cup for Spring season, which is an invitational involving the elite Midwestern schools. Michigan State won it last year before going on to with the B1G Regular Season Championship. They are in it along with Notre Dame, Northwestern, Mizzou, Louisville, Xavier, SLU, etc. Hawks' group means they have a March 23rd home match in March vs A-10 powerhouse St. Louis, before a road match with Mizzou.
2) Sam Cary was drafted by Racing Louisville of the NWSL, becoming the second Hawkeye in two years to join the league, and the first to be drafted (ION broadcast noted we're officially the 100th school to have a draft pick).
3) Gianna Gourley was signed as an undrafted free agent by Seattle Reign. Looking to start a streak of two years where a new former Hawkeye forward plays in the NWSL. Played first two seasons at Iowa, including an All-B1G Freshman selection and a B1G Tournament title her Sophomore year. Ingles and future NWSL forward Alyssa Walker were going to limit her playing time though, so she transferred to Grand Canyon her final two years:
4) Got a fantastic grad transfer in South Dakota State's all-time goals and points leader, Maya Hansen. Don't know if she'll be on the Spring roster or not. Her highlights show a devastating cutting ability, and across the body finishes on the run:
