6-2 good guys

Depends on if our bullpen is better. If it hasn’t improved, then no. If it has, then we can make some noise in the post-season. I don’t follow close enough, but maybe someone here can give us an update on any off-season upgrades in that department.
With better bullpen we would have had a shot last year at making the 64 team bracket.

Wow. Iowa got USF to bounce into what should have been an inning ending double play at 4-4, and a double error lets the Bulls plate 3. FFS! 🤬

The Hawks were the opposite of clutch today. Could have won it in the 9th and 10th (runners on third less than two outs both innings), but couldn't get the job done.

Seems like it's always something. If it isn't the SP, it's the relief. If it isn't the relief, it's the hitting. If it ain't the hitting, it's the fielding.

Cade O is 0-0 with a sub .1 ERA and WHIP while striking out 18 in 10.1 IP.

I will confess, I have never paid attention to Iowa baseball. You think with the movie, yall'd be better. ;)

Here's how it always seems to go:

A lot of chatter that this is the year Iowa does well in Big 10 baseball.

Then the bullpen sucks ass, Iowa loses a bunch of games, never sniffs the postseason.

Start again next February.

It feels that way because we're Iowa beat down fans, and the bullpen does often suck.

Two years ago they were in the Regional Final and a few wins away from the College World Series though. Maybe someday...(unless the program gets cut first).

I just think it's funny that in the baseball threads over in the Lounge on Kakert's site, there is alwasy a ton of talk about "RPI" and "must wins" etc., and 99% of the time it is completely irrelevant because Iowa is a very mediocre baseball program in only an average baseball conference.

6-2 Wazzou mid 4

on a positive note, Iowa extended their women's soccer coach
FWIW, Iowa was NOT starting one of their best 3 starters today, saving them for Fri, Sat and Sun. But, for all I know, WSU was doing the same??? Not great to get behind, but also not their "A" game starting pitcher today.
