The Clowns over at ESPN, have developed some kind of Football power index in their
Dreams. With basically little or no logic to it, they have IOWA ranked
#35 in their 2016 preseason Power poll.

Espin has become the Worst.............

GO HAWKS :D

The ESPN FPI was new last year and had Iowa 33rd in their final ranking after running the table in the Big 10 and playing in the Rose Bowl. So, take that index with an Everest- sized pile of salt.

Nothing new here regarding ESPN. They have been down on us right from start. I enjoy watching them sweat when they are trying to explain how lowly Iowa could be beating all those other teams.

09 were preseason ranked 22 and finsihed 7th. 04 were preseason 19 and finished 8th. I see Iowa being preseason 18-23 this year probably.

03' remember us being #25 for home opener vs Miami OH in the Big Ben 4 int game. Think we finished around 12 that year.

Iowa finished 8th that year.

Edit: Whoops, after thinking about it, I believe it was the following year that we finished 8th...

If you wa t respect in the big ten you need to beat Ohio st, Michigan, or Michigan st.

The rest of the conference is not that great.

It can spin it any way you want but the answer is very simple.

Winning a big bowl game would also do it.

Over generalize much?

Iowa is 6-4 each over Michigan and Michigan State in the previous ten regular season games. Things are cyclical in nature and even teams such as these two have less than stellar seasons. The mere fact that there is now more parity in college football than perhaps ever before makes your statement asinine.

BTW - Iowa beat MSU 19-16 in 2012 to go (4-8/2-6) on the year... tell me/us exactly what amount of respect that provided.

Lastly, Iowa has won its share of bowl games. Included would be a win in the Orange Bowl which is a BCS designated bowl.

You really do yourself no good by posting this type of nonsense.

Ohio st and Michigan wear the pants in the big ten given their current coaches. Beat them and you get respect. Michigan state has been really good lately and beating them will get respect.

You bring up the orange bowl roflmao. Iowa beat one of the worst teams to ever play on a bcs bowl. Give somebody a month to beat a team that never passes. Wow, that is impressive.

Iowa played two legit teams last year and lost both times, humiliated in one of them.

Big media likes big names, beat Ohio state and Michigan with their current coaches and you get respect.

Run the table against Illinois pursue Minnesota and northwestern and you expect the national media to roll into Iowa city with hand lotion to celebrate ?

I guess you never watch big media or have never figured out how it works.

Thanks for bringing up the cyclical nature of the big ten. You know Michigan sucked under the previous coaches but you seem to brag about the wins against them. Beat Meyer And Harbaugh and then brag. Beat Michigan State and then brag. Don't brag and beat your chest over Mac quality wins.

Keep your Oliver stone starter kit by your side and ignore the obvious.

After beating Florida in the bowl game what was Michigan's best win besides that? N'Western? Penn St? Byu? I don't think Michigan can really brag with how they've been the past 5-6 years. One good year they made a BCS bowl game in 11' and they still lost to Iowa that year.

Maybe Michigan needs to prove it on the field and actually beat OSU and Michigan State because their records in the past 5-10 years vs both has been pretty awful. So far the sleep over khaki wearing coach is 0-2 vs the big boys. Yeah they are a name brand and have a media whore coach, we get it. They had a nice season but please take your own advice and don't brag about Michigan until they too also beat OSU and MSU and don't beat your chest because you beat Oregon St and BYU.

Hey, look who finally found courage enough to respond.

Be real careful rolling around on that floor laughing.... when all you have is the 'a', it is easy to get lost.

Georgia Tech was 11-3 the season Iowa beat them soundly in the Orange Bowl. Along the way, the Yellow Jackets somehow managed to beat ranked UNC and VT before defeating some team named Clemson for the ACC title that year. This 'worst team ever to play ON a BCS bowl' went on to finish a consensus #13. The Iowa defense had as much to do with GT's lack of pass production as anything else.

Iowa played several legitimate teams in 2015. The majority of those games were dictated by conference scheduling while one other is 'required' to placate those that feel the need to justify playing non-con versus a certain instate institution. That alone comprised 75% of the docket.

You should stop worrying about 'big media'. Their task is to find minions just like you so that they can tell you exactly what to think and believe. You make it way too easy for them.

As was stated above, Iowa ran the table against those on the schedule. End of that story. Get over it.

What I have never done is allow this "big media" to replace my own ability to reason and rationalize what I can clearly see and experience with my very own eyes. Too bad you are missing that characteristic.

Didn't UNI have a whole off-season to prepare for one of those non-big media teams that you are so infatuated with here? How did that turn out for the Panthers in 2012?

Run along before someone from the 'big media' sees how absolutely foolish you are.

"Beat the teams on our schedule" should be put on their rings.

Give uni the same number of scholarships and some home games against Iowa and I have no doubt uni would have come out on top at least once.

Would it help if I created a new login and said I was a Bama fan? Iowa beat nobody worth a crap regardless of the team I like.

Iowa was lucky to dodge the big three last year and the media has 24/7 365 to talk about college football. The conversation was eventually going to go there.

Pointing out grammar spelling issues about phone posts is about the dumbest thing ever.

UNI is not even in the same conversation with the likes of ND State. Perhaps you should concentrate your misplaced focus on them seeing as you claim to be such a 'fan'. In the world of reality, UNI is not going to magically become an FBS program and Iowa will not ever in your lifetime be playing in the Dome. So much for those pipe dreams.

Iowa beat Wisconsin in Madison. UNI had that opportunity as recently as 2012 and failed. Just like your nefarious and grossly errant claim that the Big Ten West has as few fans as the MAC, you again prove your bias and lack of knowledge all in a single post.

(BTW - Iowa played Michigan State in the conference championship and lost by all of three points. Too bad you are so obsessed to cause you to overlook the obvious.)

The "grammar spelling issues" are all on YOU, no one else. Glad though to see that you have your phone back seeing as it only took you two days to muster your latest idiocy.

Iowa was down 38-0 in 2+ quarters of the Rose Bowl. They have MUCH repair to do to their reputation. Pre Season polls are based on the final game...hence Michigan is overhyped and Iowa unheralded.

If Iowa wants to run with the big dogs they can't pee like the puppies (see rose bowl)

Explain Notre Dame.

You can't take the new espn poll seriously. If Iowa would have beat MSU and won the playoffs, the highest they could have finished in the espn poll was #13 because of their previous seasons record and recruiting rankings. No joke.

Espn is more concerned with men being allowed to use little girls restrooms.
