It's SE Polk in 3A then everyone else. I think in 10 of the 13 weight classes they have kids ranked in top 3.

Not a strong senior class overall - only a few D1 recruits. 2026 class is loaded which obviously includes Mr. Ross. (please flip Dreshaun )

I seem to recall that they rotate which class goes first, second, third each year.

I do believe 1A was the afternoon session last year as well. Maybe they have standardized it now that each class gets its own session Weds-Friday.

The first day, now with extra qualifiers and seeding format, is not as exciting. But think about it, literally 1,000 kids are going to file into that arena and get a match in, in 1 day. 672 matches today. 1,972 matches for the whole tournament.

Also looking at the brackets there will be some good matchups this weekend ( few guys are gonna be D1 standouts Because that's hard, let's not be negative)

all just likely and propably matchups, you never know but also sort of know

We agree on this Mitch. There are kids in this tournament w/ 15-22 records - and worse. 3A sends 3 per district and 1A and 2A send 2. You get a weak district in 3A there may be two kids in a weight class w/ losing records that get in.

I think they should be calling slams more frequently than they do. Watched the Bo Basset dual finals on flo. Terrible slam IMO on one of the first matches that wasn't called. Thankfully the kid was able to continue. See it happen a lot in high school and rarely called. There's no excuse for it at that age. We had a kid taken off on a stretcher at team duals with an illegal slam. Nothing called. I bet if they called it better during the season Porter would've been more cautious. I would like to see the video in question. My comment is more general in nature rather than this specific match.

Free state athletics championship viewing is back as IHSAA and IHSSN reach resolution

The IHSAA regains full media rights Aug. 1, 2025.

The resolution includes requiring the IHSSN to make all final round livestreams free until it hands media rights back to the IHSSA. That will happen at the end of the athletic calendar, following the 2025 state baseball tournament.

I watched a TON of HS and youth wrestling this year and that was the first illegal slam we’ve seen called all year, FWIW.

Not many, TBH. Not even one off the top of our heads here.
