that is fine everybody has their opinion, the last time IA had someone with that kind of ability was Sir Jam A lot Wright the next closest was Roy Marble SR.

my opinion is that he can start.

Doug Thomas.

Doug Thomas.
he did not play that much so I did not remember him, but the thing is this will be the 1st time in my memory that IA will have 2 such players at the same time that can be monster dunkers like Cook and Kriener.

That was my point. Just because someone can jump out of the gym doesn't mean they will have meaningful playing time. Thomas, however, ended up being a pretty valuable 6th man his last year, if I remember correctly.

Kriener is very young for his grade, could easily be a junior in high school this year. Entering his freshman year in high school he was 6' 2". He's grown every year in high school. Give him some time to grow into his frame and he'll be fine.

Cook and Kriener are high flyers that both play above the rim, then you had in the athletic ability of Wagner, Uhl, Moss, Pemsyl. you have a very solid group.

now its just a matter of fitting the pieces together, the starting lineup does not matter any more. as Fran likes and wants to push the tempo.

you could see the standard 5 like I posted or you could see a 2 guard 3 forward lineup, then you could see a 4 guard 1 big lineup of these:
6'1 Bohannon, 6'5 Moss, 6'6 Williams, 6'6 Jok and 6'7 Wagner as the small lineup.

the options will be the best they have been under Fran than they have been in a long time. people complained about Davis substitution but the issue was not the substituting it was the lack of depth to run his system.. Fran has that and his players are buying into it,

it is hard to find 10-11 players that want to play like that. Fran will get 4* players that will buy into what he wants, but finding 5* players that's going to be hard to find,

I think a lot of you are going to be pleasantly surprised with next year's squad.

I am very excited for next season, but I don't see us making the NCAA tournament. Looking at the roster, I see a lot of potential, but still have no idea what to expect from them next year.

I think we have a good idea of what we can expect from Jok and Baer next year, but the rest of the guys seem like a pretty big mystery. Here are some rambling thoughts/questions on next year's roster:
  • Isaiah Moss - his high school film looked great and those who saw him in high school said that he showed flashes of greatness, but also disappeared at times which likely was due to the fact that he played with very talented players so he was not the first option. Can he play the PG position? Can he hit outside jumpers consistently? I think he may be the most intriguing player to watch next season.

  • Dom Uhl - he looked great in the first half of the season, and then things went downhill. He's a very good athlete with pretty good handles for his size. I still don't trust his outside shooting given his form and the fact that I think he airballed about 15% of his three's. However, even if his outside jumper cannot be trusted, he can still be a very good player if he plays under control and has consistent effort. At times he looked like a very impressive rebounder and defender, but at other times his effort seemed lackadaisical. It seems like a matter of time before the light clicks with him, and if it does click next year, I think he could push this team to the NCAA tournament.

  • Christian Williams - he looked really good in the last few games of the season as he shot 42% from the field in his last 5 games while he only shot 25% before that stretch. I think he will be our primary point guard. How will he handle the position? Can he be a facilitator? With his athleticism and wingspan, I think he can be a tremendous defender. Gesell and Clemmons were both good defenders in their own right, however, with both of them playing at the same time, our length defensively was diminished and I think that really hurt our 2-3 zone as other teams could comfortably pass the ball around and through the top of our zone. Christian's long arms should be able to generate more deflections and turnovers.

  • Tyler Cook - he is the most heralded recruit since Fran landed Gesell/Woodbury. I think his transition to the college game will be smoother than Woodbury's, and I expect him to start immediately. However, from what I've seen, he doesn't seem to have a refined low post game or much of a jumpshot so most of his points will come from offensive rebounds, cuts to the basket, and in transition. Will he develop a more balanced offensive game, or will he just be a physical presence on the glass and collect mostly garbage points? If he can develop a low post game, he looks like he could put up double-doubles like Reggie Evans used to do.

  • Ahmad Wagner - I view him as basically the same player as Tyler Cook. Wagner was not as heavily recruited, and is slightly shorter than Tyler Cook. Can he improve his offensive skills? Will Fran play him and Cook together?

  • Dale Jones - he seems to be a forgotten man from last season. A knee injury limited him to just 6 games. In those 6 games, he shot 45% from three, and he trailed only Woodbury and Wagner in rebounds per minute. Rebounding will be one of the biggest question marks next year as we lose our best rebounder (Woodbury) from a team that was not strong at rebounding to begin with. How will he look coming back from his knee injury? He seems to fill a lot of needs for next year's team, but I still don't know how many minutes he will receive.

  • Randy Kriener - How good is this kid really? There seem to be a lot of mixed opinions on him from people who have watched him play. He seems to be a pretty good athlete with good leaping ability, especially for his size at 6-9. He can also shoot from the outside, dribble, and pass better than most players his size. Will he be perimeter oriented, or will he be active in the paint? He reminds me a lot of Kyle Meyer, who I thought had a lot of potential, but didn't have the drive to reach his potential. Kriener might be the most intriguing incoming prospect because I could see him being a major contributor next year and I could also see him being redshirted. I am eager to see what he can do.

  • Jordan Bohannon - I think he will be our backup PG next year. ESPN has him as a 4-star prospect, Rivals has him as a 3-star, and Scout has him as an unranked prospect, so there is little consensus on how his game will translate to college. He is not overly quick, not very tall, and he is still very skinny. However, we do know he is a terrific shooter and should be a good passer. If he can handle his own against bigger, quicker guards, then he will be a good player, but that is a big question left to be answered.

  • Cordell Pemsl - he seems like a Swiss Army Knife because he can do a little bit of everything, but doesn't seem great in any single area. He has a nice looking shot, but rarely shot three pointers in high school. He has a big body and should be a decent rebounder, but he doesn't look overly athletic or long. He has pretty good passing skills for a guy his size and looks like he can dribble in traffic as well. He should bring some versatility to the team to fill in where needed. I have no idea what his role will be or how Fran wants to use him, but he looks like a solid player.
