But, we ARE that high so....Wow! I'll take it. Net rankings are actually pretty solid indicators. I wouldn't say we are that high with the weak schedule we have played but the Hawks are hanging in there.
But, we ARE that high so....
It's a Keegan-based miracle alright. And no, it's not a rebuilding year unless you consider every year a rebuilding year. In college basketball this is considered a veteran team with 2 seniors, a junior, a sophomore, and their best player by far who won't be back next year in the starting lineup. How in the world can we be that high? Rebuilding year, plus Fran as the coach and two of his sons on the team? Must be a miracle.
Hawks had to replace four players including three of their top scorers. Yes, Kegan has made huge strides but that does not negate the fact that his leading the country in scoring was not expected. I seem to remember that Hawks just won a game with Kegan spending much of it on the bench with foul trouble……must not be all about him. Not sure how Kegan possibly not being back next year has anything to do with my post. Bottom line team is playing better than most would have expected. It's a Keegan-based miracle alright. They aren't that high if Kris doesn't bail them out on Thursday either so it's definitely Murray based. Gets rewarded with 11 mins on Sunday. RidiculousIt's a Keegan-based miracle alright. How many non blue bloods are full of frosh and soph...especially with super senior etc from COVID???It's a Keegan-based miracle alright. You said it was a rebuilding year. How many Freshman are starting this year exactly? Iowa might have the oldest starting lineup in the B1G. Rebuilding means you're building something for next year. Your best player, your starting center, and your all time 3 point scorer are leaving and your point guard has 1 year left. What are you building for next year that will be better than this one? The next two years are going to be rough.Hawks had to replace four players including three of their top scorers. rebuilding means to remake/rebuild that which you previously had. Iowa had to remake/replace/rebuild three positions on the starting five and one when Jack transferred. Plus the majority of our scoring. You can call that rebuild you can call that reload, I don’t really care. You said it was a rebuilding year. How many Freshman are starting this year exactly? Agreed. I'm not sure why anyone is playing word games with this. When was the last time Iowa had 2 guys drafted anyways? And to overcome the unexpected losses of Nunge and Frederick, all of which equate to a lot to overcome. Most certainly required "rebuilding" the minutes/scoring distribution/etc.rebuilding means to remake/rebuild that which you previously had. Still, we have one kid who's been a starter at his position, (Joe T), and he didn't even start a lot of last season. Everyone else is either in a totally different role, or is new all together.....It's a Keegan-based miracle alright. Agreed. When Fran had a veteran team he will play anyone. See gonzaga last year. Only chance for ncaa this year was letting this new group gel against weak non con. The Syracuse route. What the **** with the arguing over nothing. Well done Fran and team with scheduling and handling perfectly. In great shape!
What? Rebuilding doesn't mean it has to be for NEXT year. We've got ONE guy who was a part time starter at his position last season, (Joe T). Everyone else is in a totally different role then what they played last year. Guys like Kris maybe 21, but he'd only played about 40 minutes of college basketball, and almost NONE in the BIG. We lost basically FOUR starters, one the NPOY, our second leading scorer and rebounder , (Joe W), and thats had a huge effect. Nunge who would have been the starter at the 5 and He who I won't name, who would also have been starting. Sure sounds like starting all over, rebuilding , or whatever the hell you want to call it. All the pundits picked iowa basically 10th in the league as well, so......You said it was a rebuilding year. How many Freshman are starting this year exactly? And maximizing it perfectly with margin of victory plus road win at Virginia and neutral Utah st.Agreed. When Fran had a veteran team he will play anyone. See gonzaga last year. Only chance for ncaa this year was letting this new group gel against weak non con. The Syracuse route.
Pleasant surprise indeedI thought this would be a fun year but didn't think we would be talking ncaa big dance I thought at best nit I glad I'm wrong

Okay fine. Nunge was an occasional starter, earlier in his career, who would CERTAINLY have been a starter and key piece this season had he returned.....It is hard to claim you lost 4 starters when you return 2 players who started every game last year.
Hard to do, yes.........but we still did it.It is hard to claim you lost 4 starters when you return 2 players who started every game last year.
Famous last words?........In great shape at #22 as we head into today's game
Knocked on wood already.Famous last words?........
Only reinforces how even a crappy record can be manipulated into something positive. It takes some kind of miracle to play a poor schedule and have no good wins into that kind of ranking.![]()

I feel like, come tournament time, Iowa will be pointed to as an indication that NET rankings are flawed.Only reinforces how even a crappy record can be manipulated into something positive. It takes some kind of miracle to play a poor schedule and have no good wins into that kind of ranking.
YesIs the Quad 1 cutoff 75 for a road win?
Utah State with a big one tonight.
If Utah State and Virginia end up Quad 1's, Hawks resume looks reasonable (and similar to Tennessee).
Such a big game at Maryland...

Good post to shut up the hatersShamelessly lifted from another site:
KenPom: 21
Sagarin: 21
ESPN BPI: 18
RPI: 43
NET: 22
NET, KenPom and Sagarin must all be wrong because.....Iowa hasn't beaten any good teams.
RPI on the other hand, there's some quality analytics (insert rolling eye sarcasm emoji).
Utah State in OT!Is the Quad 1 cutoff 75 for a road win?
