Jesus hawk fans>>>?? Enjoy this team in some way.....you know, they are really quite good in a VERY tough conference and no matter how you color it...they lost a lot from last years team....you can whine and complain all day long with the narrative about this Hawk team but sorry....they are pretty good...You said it was a rebuilding year. How many Freshman are starting this year exactly? Iowa might have the oldest starting lineup in the B1G. Rebuilding means you're building something for next year. Your best player, your starting center, and your all time 3 point scorer are leaving and your point guard has 1 year left. What are you building for
Only reinforces how even a crappy record can be manipulated into something positive. It takes some kind of miracle to play a poor schedule and have no good wins into that kind of ranking.
next year that will be better than this one? The next two years are going to be rough.
Iowa is 233/358 in experience. But they are old! Once again, Jonesy shows his lack of objectivity and, more importantly, how experience works. According to that asshat, Iowa would be mucho experienced if they had a starting lineup of HR’s 40 somethings rejects.Jesus hawk fans>>>?? I posted this in the Lounge yesterday....to the OP's post about the #20 NET ranking.
Watching the B1G yesterday.....it's funny how things changes from day to day.
Dave talked to Mike DeCourcy about the tourny and they will be talking to him now more regularly every Friday. This was his view on the 11th.
First, it's really tough to be on the inside for the tourny. Way to go IOWA....Mike has PU (2 seed), Wisky (2 seed), Illini (4 seed), MSU (5 seed), OSU (6 seed), IOWA (9 seed), IU (10 seed) and with Michigan now after the win last night in the first four out (moved up 17 spots.. 😏) and Rutgers, most vexing team for Mike, is not even in his First Four out...with their 4 Quad 1 wins but's it's the NET ranking of 99 that is killing them....two different teams - different earlier in the year than now, different team home and away. They have a brutal schedule ahead of them too. They are an extraordinary team in the Rack is not enough.
This is why I said the focus today should be about last nights impressive win because Iowa definitely passes the look test for Dave and Mike with the win ON THE ROAD against the Terps and scoring 110 points....seriously?
Mike said they are probably going to be in an 8 or 9 game and then will take it from there. Just do what they've done and they are in. And Mike said the NCAA is not going to pass on Iowa's NET ranking of 20 today. And with they way they play offense that NET ranking is not going to move much unless they start losing games they should not be losing down the stretch (i.e. Nebby and others). "And they showed last night, they are not really into the mood of losing to teams that they should beat"....which I thought was funny from Mike and Dave agreed. "Maryland has very good players, we all know that and they went there and completely dominated Maryland"
With a few more wins against MSU, Michigan and a few others...they can get off the 8/9 line and move up to possibly a 6 seed which would get them out of playing a #1 seed in the second game......
Good stuff....
Indeed, good post and awesome stuff ahead. Enjoy the ride, get to Carver if able and Go Hawks!Jesus hawk fans>>>?? This is a good team and I totally agree. As long as they beat the teams they are favored to beat they are in. As long as they are in the top 25 of the net they are in. I posted several weeks ago that I felt the team was going to end up at or slightly north of .500 in the B1G and get in as an 8-9 seed. I still believe that's the most likely scenario.Jesus hawk fans>>>?? And there are a lot of good B1G games today starting at 1 pm. We will have to start paying more attention to other conferences too and I am sure you, Fran and others on this board pay more attention then I do with other conferences. I am so B1G focused and try to line up on and on my computer to catch as many games as I can. This is a good team and I totally agree. Agree, BUT this team will go as far as Keegan leads them with support from Pmac, Kris, and Jbo. No one should expect a recurrence of Thursday bomb show from Jbo. As they talked about he shoots about 65- 70% from three in that gym for some reason. If he can average 3 or 4 per game that would be big.And there are a lot of good B1G games today starting at 1 pm. I want this team to get to a 6-seed and it starts tomorrow with Nebby and carries into a home game against Michigan next Thursday which this team can win in Carver. And then they slid in the Saturday game at OSU which will be a real tough road game to come home on Tuesday the 22nd against MSU which they can win too.
Here's to hoping JBo leads this team to some big wins over the next 3 weeks....we can do this.
Yes definitely.....we need Keegan too! The combo of Keegan and Jbo shooting better is huge....Agree, BUT this team will go as far as Keegan leads them with support from Pmac, Kris, and Jbo. Yeah, they have to win the home games.Protect home court on Thursday!
Yep agree we have 0 bad losses and maxed out all other wins besides the quad 1s. Fran is an evil genius with the scheduling!I think not having any BAD losses and margin of victory in select games is propping up our resume. Rutgers might very well trade a Q1 win or two to erase those Q3 and Q4 losses, which is really hurting their NET. They will, however, have more than ample opportunity to boost that, they play Illinois tonight.
