Iowa has offered 4* center Jayce Johnson.

He's #92 per ESPN grade 80- 6'11"235lb. I'm assuming he must have some links to Iowa for Fran to offer him as he's from Dana Point, CA.
Looking at this video from just a month ago, he's a load down low:

Unless they built an underground system connecting all university facilities, you still have to walk a long way to class in the bitter Iowa winters.
When is the last time you saw an Iowa athlete walking anywhere that wasn't indoors or within a block or two? I live in IC and can tell you that unless it's on the court or in a bar, they ain't walking anywhere.

What are his other offers? I'd like to snatch him up before powers like Arizona and Gonzaga come calling.
According to Rivals, he already has a Gonzaga offer to go along with ASU, Oregon, Auburn, Cal, NC State, SMU, UNLV, Utah, Vandy and Washington St. among others. I see where he also received an offer from Kansas St shortly after Fran offered. There will be plenty of competition for this kid.

Fran will try and sell him on the benefits of playing in the B1G and the exposure of playing the minutes he would get if he came to iowa.

I think he could probably throw in he'd play (maybe start) right away if he came to Iowa, then again many of the other offers could do the same.

I'm thinking that the recent offers to Nikko and now Johnson, both 2016 C/PF prospects, possibly signals that the coaches consider Painter a fading long shot. Or not? McCaffery has been almost relentless in recruiting players that fit the bill regardless of pre-existing offers.

They would be a duo to fear for 3-4 years in B1G Play

I think we were going to try and get 2 "bigs" in this class regardless. Losing Gabe/Woody/White/Uthoff and not signing anyone over 6' 7 in the 2015 class pretty much made that a necessity IMO.

I am not sure anyone can say, "you will be the only center on the roster"... Spot checking the offer list, not one. That's significant considering the talented supporting cast a center Will have at Iowa the next 4 years.

I haven't checked the rosters, but if true it is a great point.

I checked 4 or 5 of the rosters, and all had at least one, if not two, underclassman centers. So, he would be playing behind someone for a year or more. Several had sophomore centers.

In that case that's a huge tool Fran can use to his advantage IF he's about PT and and not winning (but not saying we don't win anyway ;))

Illinois just offered him, too. My biggest concern about him is that he has been at four high schools in three years.

Seeing his offer list it doesn't seem likely he'll come to Iowa. But, glad to see Fran going after guys that a program like Gonzaga has enough interest in to offer as well.
