The Hawkeyes have proven they can consistently recruit NFL level athletes at every position except WR and maybe RB. Only group that under performs every year in KF era.

I think 5 years from now we will be amazed how many of this years group are in the NFL. Fant, Alarick Jackson T Wirfs, AJ, I think Stanley gets drafted and I think Nelson gets drafted. Has to help our recruiting.

Tj having a nice NFL career being a money bags safety net

Back to my original point of this thread, we have proven to recruit elite players at every position minus WR. Why?

Last 10 years passing yards/game ranks. It’s hard to sell a vision to a top end recruit when the numbers look like this. Has the passing game made strides this year? Absolutely. Let’s hope the recruits are taking notice.

Running back position hasn't been great for sticking in NFL. You have to go back to Shonn Greene to last time Iowa had a RB that stuck in NFL.

I think the stars actually don't matter that much when it comes to Iowa TEs. We have guys that the staff identifies as what they want and then turn almost every starting TE into a guy who plays in the league.

IKM can be really good but he has to stay healthy.

Iowa wanted Miamen over Hickman.

Now that are offensive coordinator, quarterback and wide receivers are in year two of the new offense it
appears these wide receivers have talent. Are they NFL caliber Talent, probably not but the way the offense looks now it will certainly help our chances of getting wide receivers with greater potential and skill.

Hickman seems like a potential major project imo, great potential even tho his athletic measurables aren't as good as I thought they'd be unless he was injured at the camp that they were reported from.

I think that B. Smith and ISM are going to change the perception that WRs under perform at Iowa. I think that this staff is recruiting at a high level, regardless of how many stars are behind the name of the person. This is a talented roster.

I don't think that the current system for ranking recruits gives any credit for what a player might become with good coaching and hard work in the weight room. I credit the staff for identifying players with a high ceiling who are willing to put in the work.

Miamen is also a very good de prospect. Faster and much more versatile than Hickman.

Iowa strives to run a balanced offense that is slightly run dominated. If you are expecting the Hawkeyes to finish in the Top25 in pass offense, you will be routinely disappointed.

Teams such as Washington State, Baylor, Boise State, Oklahoma State, Bowling Green, Texas Tech, Colorado State and others are ranked higher than Iowa because these schools attempt 45 or more passes per game in order to achieve 300 yards per game.

Some of those seasons were indeed bad passing-wise. This year's Iowa team is starting to produce a potent passing attack. Even so, and even if the pass game continues to improve, Iowa will still finish middle of the pack B10 (maybe top 5) in passing yardage. That is a byproduct of a balanced offense where 40% of your plays are pass plays..... as opposed to a higher ranked pass offense like Washington State where something like 75% of their plays are passes. I prefer Iowa's offense over Washington State.

Oh yeah? 5.7 by rivals. Consensus 3 star recruit. Facts.

Fant had 13 offers including Oregon, Wisconsin, Nebraska. I didn't say he was a 4-star but he was widely recruited and just missed 4-star in rivals.

6.0-5.8 = Four-star prospect

Compare Fant with 13 offers vs 5.5 rivals George Kittle with 2 offers. Iowa had to out-recruit 12 schools to get Fant so big recruting win. With Kittle and his only other offer Air Force, not so big recruiting win but it was a case of good evaluation by Iowa staff since Kittle ended up in NFL.

You must be new here ... oh, I guess you are actually new here. This has been discussed almost as much as painting the water tower. Now that the water tower is painted, it's ll by itself.

According to some posters, it's because KF doesn't "want" a talented WR, because it will make the Hawks throw more, or make him look stupid for not throwing, or some other silly reason.

It might be because the Hawks want receivers that can/will block. That's going to eliminate a chunk. The state of Iowa doesn't produce many high caliber WR's, so they have to go out of state. Once you go out of state you are competing against most every other program in the country.

But, I'm guessing that Iowa is not the best place to showcase your skills for the NFL is the main reason.
