Thanks Hawkeyes for scooping up all those 2* commitments. I know it had to be tough to get them away from the Clones.

You're welcome. Just building the foundation for another 11-0 start the next few years.

As I pointed out earlier, the average Rivals-star ranking for the 22 players who start for the undefeated and consensus top 4 team in college football is 2.64.

So yeah, bring on the next class of champions.

Clones ain't even smart enough to want these winners. Just because some of these kids didn't go to a rivals camp doesn't mean they can't play.

Honestly, you have a point. To have the 3rd & 4th ranked team in the country with low pedigree players is sooooo embarrassing. And then, because we have such poor players we have to schedule very bad opponents. It's an awful cycle and requires very skilled long range planning. (Thankfully now one has figured out what the payoff was to keep us out of the Big Ten East.)

I see you're pacing yourself with the posts Landshark 7. Member since 2004 and you knocked this one, #4, out of the park. We can expect some more brilliance by...................2020? Can't wait for #5.

Here you go:

Captain Kirk is a genius now but the last couple of years you guys were tripping over each other trying to figure out how to get rid of him. Hilarious.

Another thing hilarious - your schedule. I challenge you to find a Big Ten team with a weaker non-conference AND conference schedule.

Besides Nebraska's?

Last I checked you were on a hot streak for losing to the teams we rolled.

We'll be there to roll you in Cowtown on Friday.

You didn't even try. OK. BYU, Miami and Michigan State. Now, your turn. How ya got?

Wisconsin, Northwestern, Purdue, Illinois.
No I get it. Nebraska lost to them. Nebraska has a better schedule and a far worse record. That is a fact. The point is, for being 11-0 Iowa's schedule is very weak. And good for the players. It's not their fault. But seriously, you missed Michigan State, Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State this year from the East. You got the two worst teams from the East. Just enjoy it now because it isn't going to last long.

Yeah. Can't control that. Just beat all comer's.

Just like we will Friday. Then we'll go from there.

Point being, Hawks owned their schedule. Husker's were owned by their schedule.

All sorts of teams can throw darts. The Nubbies' aren't one of them.

What was the average rating for the 19-20 stretch? Very similar, I believe. You guys will never accept the fact that if Ferentz had recruited better over the years, the program would have been much better off. Love the 2 stars. Well if we would have started with players higher on the curve, development would have been started at a higher point. If not, then that wasn't that big of an issue, was it?

Look at Iowa. 11-0, with 2 and 3 star players. Look at Ohio State, Oklahoma, Alabama. 5 stars and 4 stars. But they have 10 (+) every year, year after year.

That Juggernaut down in Miami. You win. And yes, we will probably play Mich. State. BYU? Eh. At least we beat our opponents.

Ferentz has recruited higher rated recruits. However, that is no guarantee of better success.

For instance, just on this year's squad, 4-star Army All-American Ryan Ward is playing behind walk-on recruit Boone Myers and walk-on Cole Croston at OT. Both Croston and Myers were not rated (zero stars) by Rivals and neither player had any other major offers. Ward was heavily recruited by multiple B10 and other major conference schools.

3-star sophomore DT Nathan Bazata is playing ahead of 4-star junior Faith Ekakatie.

2-star WR Matt VandeBerg played ahead of higher rated class mates Derrick Willies and Derrick Mitchell, Jr.

I could provide you a complete list of Iowa players who were lower ranked in high school and who outperformed their higher rated teammates but I have better things to do for the next 7 hours.

This argument and all the folks that refute it has gone on since the board started. The facts are that it is hard for Iowa to recruit because we are too far away for most recruits to make unofficial visits and our small population state has two major universities. That being said, Iowa now has dedicated recruiters and very good facilities so we should expect the quality of our recruits to up.

Jealous that a 2 star team is gonna kick their 3 star butt. All the chatter they do on our board is fear.

How does it make you feel that Nebraska hurts Iowa's strength of schedule?

It's not the number of stars they have coming out of high school that matters, It's how they develop while at Iowa that matters, By and large Iowa does a great job of developing their recruits. IMO it makes it very easy to pull for our players, Many were overlooked by the "name" programs. Their loss is our gain. The simple reality at Iowa is that we are never going to out talent teams like OSU or Michigan, Doesn't mean we still can't out play them. It just makes seasons like this very enjoyable. So while our Nebraska fan tries to ridicule Iowa for only having "two star" players, I think it just makes this season that much more special. Laugh all you want, We will be playing for the Big 10 Championship while you will be wishing it was your team that was in the game.

BYU.....hmmmmm. The team that lost to Mizzou and was piss pounded by Michigan 31-0. That team? A win over Northwestern and Wisky is more meaningful than beating BYU.....which by the way you lost.

Bob Sanders was a 2* recruit.... NFL Defensive M.V.P

Dallas Clark was a 2* recruit... Mackey award winner and key weapon for a super bowl winner.

Robert Gallery was a 2* recruit... Outland award winner, #2 overall pick.

Embarrassing this team of 2* athletes is so much better than yours

So now Penn State is considered a tough team in the B10? I can only hope they are on Iowa's schedule in the future. As far as Michigan goes - Iowa has had their # for quite some time, so will be nice to get them back on schedule too.

Wrong Dallas Clark was a walk on

Of course you can find examples. Nothing ensures anything. But if you load up rosters with 2 stars ( you do know that a signed LOI gets you a 2 star), 3 star and occasional higher you never secure a solid core of a roster. And that's the point I'm making. Look at the teams Iowa is competing with; Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, Penn State, even Nebraska and Wisconsin, which Iowa has barely kept up with. Iowa is entering into the conference cross-over battles starting next year and it will be entirely different.

What I am saying is Ferentz should be raising the bar on recruits. I will never understand those of you that argue why.

I agree. The Iowa record has not been that great up until this year (with the weaker schedule). With a few exceptions, 2* recruits will not keep up to this year's level of success.

C'mon man...you know if your more than 15 years old the BIG schedule was not our choice and it is easier than some? We played Pitt, Illinios State (one of the best fcs schools), ISU (sucks), N. Texas was bad. The schedule was not brutal by any means...to win 11 games regardless is still a difficult task. Look at Alabama's or the SEC in general and then come back and tell me you don't have a problem with the #2 team? These games are scheduled years in advance and sometimes they fall like it did this year? Nebraska has had their share of cupcakes over the years....you were in the Big 12????

You are wrong again, the success they have had has been with lower ranked kids. Mainly 3* star recruits. They can't rank every kid that comes out of high school and the rankings are not always right...how has it worked for your team? Look at Texas....roster is littered with 4* and 5* recruits. If we had played CJ last year, the season would have been different! We have had bad runs with the previous two QB's. KF finally woke up and made the right change.

Nebraska can't even keep their own kids in state anymore. 2 of 3 best recruits are heading out of state.
