Not surprised this restaurant would try to pull this. The owner is a real peach.
Happy to pay extra for barbecue that isn’t trash.

Yeah because if anyone on here is fully aware of what makes one a POS...you have the market cornered.
You know, businesses could lower their prices as inflation eases and the supply chain improves…but they don’t.
Prices are not coming down. That’s the “evil” of inflation. Inflation artificially raises $$ defying the laws of supply/ demand.
I think it’s a silly charge for what…3%? All it does is piss off customers.
(Personally, I find those folks who charge a fee for using a credit card more chicken-shit…looking directly at you the Chiodo boys who run the public golf course in DSM! ( and all other merchants who do the same) It’s a phuquin’ $$grab…admit it and call it for what it is.)
Jethro's is the Best BBQ in the State of Iowa and 2nd place isn't even close.
Was never all that crazy about his places even before the dick videos surface.

I have no problem with the fee as long as it is transparent before hand. Better yet I like it if they advise you a fee will be added if you use a card or no fee for cash. Rarely dont have the cash on me to avoid the CC fee.
Had a friend who was a waitress at Jethros, she said the guy was a creep to all the waitresses in general but he seemed to hang around the high school girls the most.

You realize every business charges for using a credit card, right? It’s just that most businesses do it by penalizing people who pay cash.
We were told repeatedly that wages were outpacing inflation. So if vendors who supply restaurants like Jethro’s lower their prices as inflation ‘eases’ does the restaurant in turn take away their employee’s raises?
Maybe the Inflation Reduction Act wasn’t so great after all.
What merchants should do is offer a “cash discount” and not a surcharge for using what America and its bankers have been “educating” the public to use for the past 50 years.
Credit card processing fees are often the 2nd biggest controllable expense for businesses behind labor. It's a huge expense. Most businesses just raise the price for everyone to cover it.
So the name is what bothers you. You wouldn't mind paying more if you use a credit card as long as they call it a discount for cash users and not a charge for cc users. Makes sense.

Sorry but I couldn’t disagree with you more. I’m not big in BBQ but it certainly is better than most locally. Their red beans and rice is to die for… and their bacon/ breakfast restaurant is above average.
You may not like the owner and he may be all the things you say, but he has a long history of running restaurants and eateries that turn profits.

I knew nothing about the owner my first 3 times there at 3 different locations.....and every time the food wss garbage. My opinion about the place has nothing to do with their owner. There are plenty of douches that run good establishments. He is not one of them.

Yup. Knew nothing about the guy before I went. Every Iowa bred Iowan I knew was gushing about the place. Went there a few times and left every time thinking “what am I missing?” Decided I’m not missing anything other than shit bbq - but they do give you a ton of it!
