Iowa Softball

From what I have seen on the Iowa Prep side is they don't track the players well because they don't deal with the club coaches much that have seen most of the top quality girls play. Like I have said before, I have only met Marla a handful of times and she seems nice enough, but as a Club Coach I know the parents of our kids want a certain level of Trust for their daughters to go play for someone, if a girl goes to a camp at Iowa and is a very good top quality prep then I think the Staff need to recognize them in camps and make efforts to get to know them. I totally understand that there are hundreds of girls that attend the Iowa Camps but there are only a handful of these girls that would have a shot to make a D1 roster.. Identify them. Speak to the parents get to know them. if Iowa wants them to go there then court them a little. The parent of a pitcher who I know who is very young right now but honestly might be the best pitcher/hitter I have ever seen, went to and Iowa camp and felt like Looper was just not that interested in her daughter. Now this maybe that she is too young but you really can never plant a seed of success to early. And this girl is pitching at 18u gold level right now so she is competing with the best. Recruiting 8th grade is not uncommon as someone said. That is because they courted the player for a long time and developed relations. Heck do like the Iowa football program does. make them an offer in 8th grade. Make them decide that they don't want it. Until they sign its not binding to either party I believe. show interest.

Looper is not from Iowa and transplanted here so she is still Developing her relations with area Club coaching, I will give her that. Like I said I give her 2 years this and next. we shall see how she does.
